Disneyland Paris...

We went this past May and had a really great time there. We stayed at the Santa Fe which is one of the cheapest ones, tbh it's fine as a base for sleeping but there isn't really a lot to do in the evenings and apart from the main entrance bit the decor is really plain. The hotel blocks look a little worn as well and could have done with a lick of paint as could our room, however it was clean and that is what I expect when staying in a hotel (still for the money you pay you do expect a bit more Disney magic even at the cheaper hotels). Hotel wise I would have rather stayed at the Cheyenne as that looked like it had a bit more magic about it. I always thought that the Santa Fe could have done with a kids play area or something in the grounds as it was really plain, there was a water feature but it was completely bone dry I think that would have looked lovely. As I said though, it's fine as a base for sleeping.

The parks are brilliant though, it's like being in a completely different world I was genuinely sad to leave lol, I wanted to live there! The food is okay, not cheap but not overly expensive. The sort of pricing you would expect for a theme park really. We went to a steak house one evening as it was our anniversary which was expensive but there are places in the village which are more reasonably priced food wise. There are loads of buffet type places as well so if you're really hungry you could easily eat your money's worth. Mine and oh's fav was pizza planet, the pizza was lovely and the drinks were refillable.

Not exaggerated at all, that's how much a croissant cost. And it was £6 for a cup of hot chocolate. And during our stay they were actually searching and emptying peoples bags after the breakfast buffet.

If your experience is different, that's fine.
I resent being told my opinion is exaggerated. During our stay half the restaurants and rides were closed and my daughter got sick of eating hotdogs and macaroni cheese. I glad it was nothing like that for you, however Im describing my experience, not yours, and it was exactly like that.
Infact we left a day early.

We stayed in the Newport bay hotel (think it was called something like that) and the rooms were shabby considering the price we paid for them and the staff were rude. The swimming pool was also closed for our entire trip, and as it was raining the whole time and half the rides were closed this was another annoyance.

I've been. It's good, but take your own food. Or get the train to the next town and go to the supermarket.

It's £10 for a cheese and ham croissant in Disney land. No kidding.

And dont think you can steal bread rolls from the breakfast buffet. They bag search.

bit exagerated ^^^ its nothing like that i went to disneyland and it was fantastic - the food is reasonably priced imo and its really nice - certain places are more expensive but overall i thought the foos was great

thanks for the replies everyone :)

I was originally thinking of going to the Sequoia Lodge but its got shocking reviews on Tripadvisor :(

I also looked at the Hotel New York but most of the reviews seem to be saying the same thing no matter which hotel you choose.... very shabby/in need of updating/MEGA expensive for what you get/staff unhelpful or even rude/not worth the money at all :(

my LO is 15 months old so any holiday would need to be based around her & I wouldn't wanna fly any further than a couple of hours so thought Euro Disney would be brilliant for her

im gutted coz I thought we could go for a few days & even tho it would be expensive that would mean it would be awesome iygwim?

I could really do with a bit of awesomeness in my life right now *sigh* xx

really? omg i was planning on staying in the sequoia lodge next time we go as my son shares its name just an alternative spelling

hi, ive been to disneyland paris about 6 times over the past years.
first time i went we stayed in seqoia lodge (i was too young to really remember anything then)
all the other times we stayed in davey crokett and i absolutely love it.
the log cabins are brill and are very clean, the food there isnt really expensive, in the nights its all you can eat buffet. in the park though its kinda expensive but not to expensive. ive been at halloween too, i think i would of loved it but as i was ill i didnt really enjoy that time much but i can honestly say its brilliant there!!

thanks girls

you've given me something to think about now...

I was so excited but Trip Advisor really put me off :dohh:

still not sure tho, its gonna cost roughly £1000 for the 3 of us for 3 nights & I just can't get all the bad reviews out of my head coz id be sooooo gutted if we spent that & got there to see we should've listened to the reviews

Ah, I dunno what to do? I really wanna see my little girls face when she sees Disney & Florida is out of the question :(

decisions decisions eh? xx

As your daughter is only 15months it would probably better to stay in the uk and go to a park here like Peppa Pig land or similar or even centreparcs (that is a super super holiday).

If you can save the money you would spend on this trip and put it towards going to Florida when your daughter is at least 3yrs old she would most definitely appreciate it a lot more. I took my DD when she was 20mnths old and she did enjoy but didn't really get a lot of the stuff, but now she is very nearly 3yrs she would LOVE it soo soo much more. I am currently trying to persuade hubby to go next Feb!

Although Centreparcs isn't Disney it is a super place to go on holiday especially when they have their Christmas theming.

We've stayed in New York hotel and it was amazing!!!

Chyenne was good too, can tell its a bit more budget but its clean, food is ok & somewhere to put your head at the end of the day!! Id def stay again

xxx

ive been looking at places in this country but they are all really far away from where we live so it would be quicker to go abroad :haha:

we have a Centerparks nearby so im gonna look into that but my DH is dead against paying a lot to holiday in the UK :dohh:

I know she is young thats why I though Disney would be better for her as she recognises the characters & it would be a waste of time going anywhere that was aimed at older kids/adults with lots of huge rollercoasters etc iyswim?

(most places have a few kiddy rides but not ones that we could go on with her & theres no way id put her on them alone) xx

There is one really close to you!

https://video.centerparcs.co.uk/discover/videos/whinfell.html

I LOVE centreparcs its such a nice safe environment, very relaxing and not hugely expensive, its cheaper to go midweek almost half the price plus its 4 nights not 3. Also the more people that go the bigger cabin you can hire and split the costs. We go every year with my family about 12-14 of us in total and it costs only around £300 for 4nights.

The new style lodges are fab and pretty luxurious, if you go in the winter time you can buy the special logs to put in the log fires its sooo cosy.

thanks Whisper :)

I will def look into it a bit more but there will only be the 3 of us going & we are wanting to go sometime in September ideally xx

Go in Novemember for the christmas season you realy wont be dissapointed.
They light all the castle up and have a electric light perade with fake snow blowing around and christmas trees everywhere :)

Stargazer77 got it right, if you want a good time with rides at Disney, you need to buy "fast passes". they let skip a good chunk of the queue. So you better have a bit of money with you.
Also everything is quite expensive. Don't expect to have a cheap day at disney...
If money is not a problem, try to make it to the disney studio too. It's really cool.

I doubt we'd need fast passes as we wont be bothered about going on the adult/older kids rides

when you book at a Disney hotel you get allowed into the parks 2hrs earlier than the general public so it should help to minimise queuing too

still havent decided what to do yet tho (had a look at Centerparcs which is close to where we live but its over £100 per day & that seems like a LOT of money to pay to be sleeping 30 mins away from our own beds) :dohh:

ah nothing is ever easy is it? x

If you time it right (french school holidays are different to ours) then there is no need for fast passes.
We have only once ever had to queue for more then 5/10 minutes and that was because we stupidly whent in the middle of a french school holiday and it was so packed on the weekends (week day wasnt so bad) that you could barely move.
Every other time we have been its been pretty much straight onto every ride apart from peterpan, there seems to be mile long queues for that ride no matter when you go.
Alot of the rides we even just stayed on and kept going round :)
One time we even walked round for a full 20 minutes before we even saw another person :)

Smokey you are making me get excited! :happydance: xx

Do it :) (I feel like a disney pusher)
I prefer the christmas season but the halloween season is realy good as well and thats its most quietist and its still realy hot and sunny during that.
Dont go in Febuary its blooming freezing and even the lake is frozen over :)
