I'm currently in Tenerife and suffering from a stinking cold. I can't breathe at all through my nose.

This happened last year when I was here and I got something called disofrol which was great. Anyone know if this can be taken in pregnancy? I'm desperate.

One of the main ingredients is pseudoephedrine which is also in Sudafed, one of the main cold remedies sold in the USA. It is in the pregnancy category C which means if you ask a pharmacist if you should take it while pregnant they will probably say, "hmm....its better not to." That said, since you don't need a prescription for it in the USA, I think that lots of pregnant women take it all the time. I took a quarter dose of Sudafed last week (a single time) because I just couldn't stand it any more so it is one of those situations where you have to decide when the benefits outweigh the risks. Of course it is safer not to take anything. Disofrol also has an antihistamine component, so it is quite different from what I am familiar with but it is still in that category C of ambiguous medications that it is "better" not to use.

I've managed to get a little relief from a saline nasal spray. Feeling really rotten but must admit the sun is beautiful so hard to dwell on it. Just need a good sleep xx

I have absolutely no clue & have never even heard of the medication but I just wanted to say I'm so jealous!! I've been to Tenerife twice & I LOVE it! Hope despite feeling sick that you're having a good time x
