Hi hun

We did one 12 months ago and although the timings all had to be quite specific, it wasn't really difficult.

However, ours said all was fine (ie 20mil+ per ml). We didn't rush to the drs because of this. Anyway, 12 months after doing the test and 18month TTC altogether, we went to the drs, got referred for fertility test at the clinic and hubby's 2 SA's have both come back "no sperm"!! :nope:

Now, unless something major has happened in the last 12 months (and I do accept that that is a possibility) I just don't see how a test can say everything's fine and yet there be NO sperm present!? Sure, I understand there may be some question of their accuracy as in it might say everything's fine and then hospital tests says it's below average, but 20mil+ compared to nothing - it's just not right.

Plus the FS tests for motility, morphology etc.

I really wouldn't rely on the home tests hun; it actually delayed us in going to get help and we don't have time on our side as I'm 36 now.

Good luck hun xx

Hiya

I used one of those tests and it was useless. You had to compare the colour of the test with a chart. The colour of the test was completely different to the chart so it did not tell me anything other than maybe my dh is an alien. Absolute rubbish. Also - these tests only assess sperm count. my dh's sperm count is fine but there are other problems with his (it didn't pass a spin test or something which is important).

My gp arranged for a sperm test really quickly. It was free and at least it was reliable. My advice would be to ask for a test through the GP - it will be much more reliable xxxx

hi ya i bought one of those at home sperm testing kits for my dh too. The result showed that he had a normal sperm count however a few months later we found out that his sperm count was really bad, 2.7 million from his SA. Those tests are not reliable!!

Thanks ladies i wont waste my time or money in getting one and just go straight to the doctors for a test.

Thanks again
Zoie
