hey all wondering what you all are having as entertainment for your recetpion? was wondering how much it is costing you and what your getting for your money?

We are having a disco = £180. We looked at bands but they room they need to perform was too much for our venue. Also the price seemed to start at about £600 for here (2 hours performing) and upwards of £3000!! We looked at smaller acoustic performers but figured that the party atmosphere is very hard to replicate with one bloke and his guitar!!

were having a traditional irish band playing at the start of the evening for maybe and hour or two then having a DJ :)
the band cost 150 and the DJ 200 so 350 altogther

not to bad... i am looking on gumtree to see if i can see anything, so can price it up.

We are having a dj (£220) and a band (11 piece swing/blues/covers) at mates rates, but would normally charge in the region of £1000. If you decide you dont want either, a lot of brides are now doing 'ipod discos' where they make up playlists of their own choosing to play at the reception dance xxx

I would def recommend a band if you can afford one. Loads of people have said that it was one of the best bits of the day. Everyone was on the dancefloor including my 85 year old Nan! We paid £700 for 2 hours (through an agency as didn't have much time) but they put an I pod in with music onto their soundsystem in the gaps before, in their break and after.

We are having OH's best man's band as they do loads of covers (Rolling Stones, Beatles etc) & filling the extra time with an IPod playlist...

We're having a band which has cost us £300 for the ceremony and the reception all night until midnight. They're a professional band that have played for famous people also (i know them) so I think you can get/find relatively cheap bands!! When they are eating / not playing we are having a compilation of songs played through the bands speakers with our IPOD! We've also hired a comedian for the evening... xx

i have really need considering an Ipod entertainment didn't know if that would be al
right lol

Its by far a cheaper option. Nobody LOOKS at the DJ lol. They just listen to the music, which is exactly what the Ipod would do!

how would you make sure the same song isn;t played twice and that it doesn't run out of battery? are you going to get someone to control it?

who will be helping you put the music on?

We're going to make a playlist once we've worked out the timescale for the day & how long we'll need to cover. OH's best man will be in charge of co-ordinating it as he understands the PA system!

Oh, and we're also going to add a note onto the RSVP cards, asking people which kind of music they'd like to hear at the reception. Obviously we'll have to get in a couple of the old cheesy songs...

we are having a disco and a band. the band are playing acoustic music they are fab we have seen them before at a mates wedding and they get everyone up and dancing and interact with the crowd :)

good plan batman :D sounds good :D

i am not sure what to do etc, but i-pod idea might be the best be the cheapest lol.

We are having a d.j which is costing £100 and maybe some sort of entertainer if we have any money left over from our budget. x

£100 oh wish could find someone sooo cheap, how long u got them for?

I've got a bagpiper for the day, ipod for the meal and dj for the evening. I think the bagpiper was £100 and dj £250

thats pretty good hun i really thought about bagpipes too but not sure... didn't really want to spend to much money on music.

been looking on gumtree as not sure were else to look.

We hired a PA system, DJ decks and lights for £100 from a local company (set-up would ordinarily have been £180+, but knew the guy through OH being on the RocSoc committee at the right time!) We had friends DJ for us then throughout the night! It was a great way of getting people involved. We even had one guy who didn't think that he'd be able to make it because of his family turn up with his partner and the kids because he was DJing! :happydance:

Beca
