I made it to 7 cm without an epidural aAfter being induced with pitocin, then they had to call someone in from home to do it because they were so busy. 11 people were in labor in my small hospital. I had to bare contractions 1 1/2 minutes apart lasting 1 minute each. Not fun! Epidural was amazing. Took me an hour to get fully dialated but baby still hadn't moved all the way down (becase he couldnt we found out later) so they let me "sit and decend" for a while. Come to find out a woman had an emergency c section to a 2 lb baby at 32 weeks had to be stay flighted and that's why I was held off for 2 hours! Thank god I got an Epi. My Epi was so great though cause I still felt my legs and felt in control and could feel every contraction, they were just bareable. Well I had to push for 3 hours and I'll spare the awful details but it was the most pathetic, awful, scary time of my life. I refused to give into a c section at first and then it was too late because I got him past my pelvic bone. My epidural wore off By this point but the pain was helping me push so we disnt get more. Worst pain ever!!' They Disnt want to use vacuum or forceps because he was so big the dr said it would potentially result In breaking his collar bone or shoulders and my little trooper never got in distress once!!! I was running on 3 hours sleep and had pushed for as long and still managed to get him out after an episiotomy from top to bottom after I had already ripped. Totally worth it because it was the only way he was coming. After delivery I bleed too much and big boy had a fever but magically within an hour we were fine and doing skin to skin and nursing!!! It took me a bit to get over the trauma but now I just feel like a bad ass!!!!! He is so beautiful and worth every bit.
