Do I treat it like nappy rash?

Fin woke this mornign SOAKED in wee. He'd had an epic leakage. The skin on his chest is red and looks a touch sore. It does NOT look like nappy rash though... but has been caused by the wee I'm sure.

He was bathed immediately and dried fully and dressed. Anyway I just changed him again and he's still really red. Should I just leave it (too cold to let him with no clothes on though)?. He's prone to infections in his belly button and has hydrocortizone cream which I've put on his button... but should I be putting a cream on the red area on his chest? If so - what. We use metanium for the 3 cases of nappy rash he'd had but have sudocrem, E45 and Bepanthem in the house. Which would be best?

Sorry, sounds silly asking this when he'll 11 months old but he so rarely gets nappy rash and when he does it's a severe blistered weeping mess. This looks nothing like that so I don't know what to do. He's not bothered by it xx

I don't know if you can get your hands on any, but I swear by Weleda calendula bum cream. My friends little boy has had a coupe of big leaks, I gave her some to put on..and she's a convert. You can get it in Waitrose :flower:

Im not sure if this has anything to do with it but there wee gets stronger when there teething,Think its something to do with the excessive saliva so his skin might of had a reaction to it if he had a leak in the night and wasn't noticed till the morning (my charlie gets this from time to time)

I usually put some Bepanthen on it.

I think if he shows obvious signs of distress with it then maybe a trip to the docs to get it looked over?

I'd generally put Sudocrem on anything red, as it's suitable for all over the body and treats so many types of things.

Hope it clears up soon :)

I would put sudocream on it too since it's suitable for so many things. It's a barrrier cream as well so slap it on before bed tonight in case of any more leaks x

i too would use sudocrem and perhaps keep his clothes off? depends if it's hurting him or not. the air might do it some good :flower:
hope it gets a bit better soon. xx

I'd just use some paw paw ointment, if you warm it by rubbing it in your hands, it's spreads into the skin nicely.

if you're BFing you could also try some breastmilk. I would personally opt to give it a full day or two to heal on its own. If it started getting worse instead of healing I'd start with the creams.
I don't think the creams would do any harm, I just prefer to let it heal on its own if it will instead of getting cream all over the clothes :)

Did you have any luck with the nappy cream? It might not be a reaction to the wee so much as the wetness. Stanley's skin doesn't tolerate any moisture whether it be milk, water, juice, wee, whatever, he always gets sore patches. And I must say that I reach straight for the hydrocortisone cream at the first sign of redness, just because it's quick and effective. Probably better to start mild and work your way up though! Hope he's better x

With Isaac's eczema, I tried every lotion and potion before even thinking about hydrocortisone. If you can avoid steroids, surely you should? Hydrocortisone can damage adult skin if used in the same place too often! Try Sudocrem for mild redness-you should be pleasantly surprised!

Fin's chest cleared all up. I popped a bit of sudo crem on it each morning and it was gone in a couple of days - not he has an all new rash there but that's from him being so unwell with tonsilitis. It never rains but it pours right? Thanks guys xx
