Do you change your baby's diaper at night? How frequently?

I change my baby's diaper whenever she's wet at night and when I can wake up in time, I potty her at night as well. I've changed her as soon as I can since birth although there were plenty of times early on when I was too tired to be as on top of it as I would have liked and it still happens sometimes but I'm generally pretty good about it. How frequently do you change your baby at night? It seems that many people let their babies sleep in wet diapers.

I do not change my DS's diapers at night. Before bedtime I change his diaper and apply cream. I use the Huggies Night time 12+ hour diapers, so it hold really well and we do not get leaks. If I changed his diaper in the middle of the night I would have issues getting him back to sleep.

Since he sttn I don't. We cloth diaper. I change him right before bed.

I change his diaper when he wakes up to eat if it needs changing badly, like one more pee will overflow it, otherwise I let it be

I'm like greenbeans. I do not change Aiden's diaper during the night cause he would be be a beast to get back down. He may wake up once late night/early morning these days. Ashlynn sleeps through the night so no need to wake her up to change it.

I change Arden's diaper if she wakes up to eat and feels wet or dirty. Otherwise I just change it right before bed and when she wakes up.

Huh... So those of you who say you wouldn't be able to get your baby back to sleep, does this mean you've tried, or you simply suspect it would be difficult? I suppose a baby who's not used to it may be more difficult.

Actually I take it back, my DS would go back to sleep. I would take 30 seconds of crying before he drifted off. I just don't like the idea of bothering him in the middle of his sleep when he has a night time diaper on and has not had any leaks and I apply cream to protect his bum.

I always changed my babies diaper as soon as she wakes up at night, but lately (in the last month or so) I change it during the night when it feels wet, so I change it before she goes down for the night (730ish) then again at around 12 and again around 3am then when we're up in the morning at 7am.

I always change her before she eats, and she nurses herself back to sleep. We have been doing that since day 1 so we're in a pretty good routine.

Does it matter? If they're not bothered, doesn't get nappy rash, I don't see the point of disturbing their sleep. You can't catch every dirty nappy as they pee either.

My LO is up every 2 hours at night to feed, so I change his diaper whenever it feels wet to me or he's poopy. But he falls asleep really fast while nursing at night- so i definitely know it doesnt disturb him a bit lol

My guy just wakes up so quickly and wants to be fed now! and starts shrieking if I don't practically shove a boob right in his mouth, lol, its just not worth the tears to change a diaper that is working just fine. My lo has never had a diaper rash from overnight and his skin isn't wet when I do change him, so I don't see the harm.

when she would still poop in the middle of the night I would change it. but since she is already very difficult with sleeping i don't bother changing it and she's perfectly comfy. put on the overnight diaper around 8 p.m and then we wake up at 6 a.m and change it. overnight diapers are great

Yep like pp said.. When he still pooped at night I would but he doesnt anymore so I wait till morning unless it leaked through. I used to change the wet ones too but he started waking up and wanting to play for two hours when I did so now i try not to.

Nope because he is fed bottles with his puree food so we get plenty of wet diapers during the day, naps, and night time.

no, but she did suffer with constipation so on top of her regular milk she also drinks lots of water from her sippy cups, and then was eating cereals made with water or milk, and food

her diaper is usually pretty full in the morning but not leaking

I was responding to this question....

we don't have any less pee because he is fed bottles with his puree......so therefore we have wet diapers when he sleeps - during naps and at night....

Oh, wait? I should try changing him during the night before I say he's difficult to get back down?

I'm not sure I like your statement of a baby who is "not used to it" may be more difficult. He was changed during the night when he was younger and waking more frequently during the night for feedings and therefore wetting more often. As he got older and dropped to more infrequent feedings during the night, he simply wants to eat and go back to sleep. He gets very upset if made to wait for a bottle and this wakes him up further making it harder for him to go back to sleep. I don't think it is worth changing a wet diaper if it's going to cause more difficulty falling back to sleep. A dirty diaper is a different story and is changed as soon as detected but I can't recall the last time that he has pooped during the night.
