Do you have to be pretty to do beauty therapy? Or crazy hair to be a hairdresser?

I have never seen you nor do i need to to know that i am a million % sure you are not ugly one iota....never say that about yourself hun :nope:

:hugs:

As for your question....You can bloody well do whatever you like.

If you went into beauty therapy, maybe that will open doors for you and you will defo get to grips with products that will suit your skin then that way you can use make up to enhance your already lovely looks.

Dont be so down on yourself...You can do anything you want, dont let anything seem a barrier for you.

chick, i was such a pratt when i started hairdressing. seriously i had no fashion sense of ANY kind, my hair was crap too :haha: I had just left my bf and started in that job.

A few months later he walked past the salon and saw he and he was stunned to see how I had changed  he told me so. So yep, i learnt a lot.

The only problem i did have in one interview when I went to find an new employer - I wore dark make up and im a punky sorta girl,(im in my siggie) to the point the guy interviewing me said I'd have to drop the eyeliner and all. he offered me the job but i declined that. needless to say all his stylists and apprentices are like little blonde robots.

I learnt that when you go into a salon, the staff teams looks need to vary. A client can walk in and could pick out a style they feel closest to them - not so cool if all the staff are little clones! There were crazy people like me, and then the down to earth styles we had from one of the stylist too.

My manager did insist on the well groomed part, this doesnt always mean make up!

Its really interesting hun - i used to only dye my hair dark reds but once i knew the real ins and outs - pfffft.... my old hair was history  I'm thankful for my time there, it changed me a lot , gave me confidence and I became more sociable (and i wouldnt have my DH :haha:) One of my first hair cuts their was something that was modeled at a recent Clothes Show my boss had gatecrashed. It was horrifying looking back (you can imagine how extreme it could be if it was on the catwalk ) but I was given the courage to blag it til it grew out!

Im a total different person :)

Oh and on that note - if someone asks to try out a NEW style on you - say NO! newbies are fresh meat to the pros! Keep to your roots and if you wanna be that natural girl, stay that way :) But i can see you might change your mind with time :haha:

I bet you're very pretty, but even if you were plain I agree with atomic pink, it's nice to have staff with different looks. I don't wear much make up or style my hair really and it intimidates me if all the staff in a salon look absolutely perfect and really groomed!

I started a beauty therapy course in 2008. I don't dye my hair and I wear minimal makeup. Most of the class were pretty but there were a good handful of orangutans on the course too so it doesn't matter what you look like. In all honesty though, I left after a few weeks as I really didn't feel like I fit in. The girls were all bitches xx

Lol at orangutans! Its worried me a bit about the bitchiness though I kind of forgot that side of it all. My sister left her beauty course before level 3 because she was sick of all the backbiting. I think it must happen a lot in jobs/courses where its mostly women :/

Yep. Although it also depends what age they all are. They were all between 16 and 20 in my class. Whereas if you go onto a mature learner course it shouldn't be so bad xx

one or two of the girls didnt like me, but hey, they had their reasons. My highlighting kicked ass, what can I say
