Do you have to be ttc for a 1 yr to be considered long term?

I was just wondering how long you have to have been trying to be considered a long term ttc'er. I have been trying 10 months now. Sadly I don't see a BFP in the near future. I was recently diagnosed with thin PCOS and have not ovulated in 70 days. Although it hasnt been a year yet, if feels like an eternity. And the fact that we aren't even given a chance to try (Because of annovulation) makes it feel even longer.

I have an appointment scheduled with an RE in two weeks. I am hoping to get something just to make me ovulate. I did not respond at all to clomid.

Hopefully it's ok if I post over here.

:hugs: Welcome to this side. Lets hope your stay is really short.

I think this section is for anyone over 12 months or with known problems that makes the ttc journey problematic.

35 and over actively TTC for 6 months. Everyone else TTC for over a year.

If you've been diagnosed with PCOS and haven't ovulated then I'd say unfortunately you're going to be LTTC. Although they could put you on Clomid or Femara(?) to make you ovulate. Then you may not even get to 12 months.

Also by doctor's standards, if you've been TTC for over a year (35 and over 6 months) then by textbook definition you're considered infertile/LTTC.

Armywife.. I have already tried 3 cycles of clomid and I did not ovulate on the last two cycles of 100mg and my first ovulation was weak. :nope:

So very sorry to hear that. :hugs: Are they going to give you 3 more rounds or move you onto something else?

Welcome!! I just joined too...I have been TTC since Feb 2011 and have had 3 MC over the last year. It took me 14 months to get my first BFP. They still have not found any clear reasons for my issues.

Just wanted to let you know I totally understand your frustration, I remember being heartbroken at 10 months of TTC. It gets a little easier over time and seeing an RE gives hope and there are many people who have been successful with treatment of PCOS but it does take time and patience. Good luck to you and keep me posted.

Difficulty TTC is a tough journey.....when the world tells you to give up...hope whispers...give it another try... :)

Army wife, know the feeling of having the 'infertile' classing by the doctors, I saw it on my gp's screen last time I went. My name, then in big capitals INFERTILE!
I was like geee thanks!!!

I remember when my Doc first wrote that, I nearly cried. I also remember posting in here at 1 yr ttc :( This sucks.

And welcome to Lttc. I'm sorry you had to come here. :hugs:

Well my OBGYN said that the clomid was not working so they are not going to even attempt to up the dose because I had no follicle growth. So I see the RE on July 19th. I am hoping she will treat the PCOS and maybe start me on Fermara.
