Hello

I have my appointment through to see if i can carry another pregnancy to term or at least what i can do to help - After having Alfie at 26 weeks.

With Alfie there was a problem with my blood clotting too much ( i think) and not getting through to him, so i am going to see if it'll happen again!

Does anyone else know why they had their LO prematurely?

xxx

Nope, no idea. Have been monitored this time round to see if it was due to an incompetent cervix but it doesn't seem to be and so far I am I carrying a week longer than I managed to carry Poppy for :)

I was on blood thinning injections last time though, maybe that's something you'll be put on.

Yeah they said thats prob the least i would have to do!

Congrats on getting this far - not long now! and Poppy looks adorable!!

No, still trying to find out though:shrug:.

I know its a nightmare i had to chase like mad to get blood tests and this appointment - its like once you have had the baby and all is ok they forget you!

To us its still very important!

xx

i had premature rupture of membrane's {PROM) at 22 weeks.

I had pre eclampsia 5 years ago with my son, he was 4 weeks early by emergency section as I fitted.

I had pre eclampsia again with Anna but at 25 weeks and my kidneys started to fail even after 2 days of various high blood pressure tablets.

I don't think I would be advised to even think about trying again, though to be honest Im not sure I would want to.

I had pre-eclamptic toxemia at 29 weeks with my little girl, so they delivered her by emergency c-section...

I am now nearly 21 weeks pregnant with my second, am on aspirin and calcium, being seen every 2 weeks either by my consultant or midwife, having 4 weekly growth scans and at 24 weeks I am having a specialist uterine doppler scan to check the blood flow through placenta and pressure on the cord, which apparently can determine the chances of PET rearing it's ugly head this time around too!!

I am at higher risk of getting it again as this baby is with my DH, a different partner than my first little girl...but fingers and toes crossed, I have got my head around the idea that any extra days I can keep this little girl growing after 29 weeks (hopefully) is a bonus.

I had pre-eclampsia which started at 25 weeks but I got to 27 weeks before Sophie was delivered by emergency c-section. I was later told I had been one hour from organ failure.

We would love another one - always wanted 2 - but I'm really scared to try again...not that we'd be trying for another few years anyway but we'll see how we feel in 2-3 years.

No idea here, but very likey due to stress. Yeah - I didnt believe it could cause it either!

I had pre-eclampsia diagnosed at 28 weeks and had an emergency c section at 29 weeks.

Unfortunately they can't tell me why. I could have an incompetent cervix or I had some sort of inflammation that caused my cervix to open at 21 weeks.

The one question most premmie mums want answered and it rarely is!

My SIL develeped severe eclampsia & the baby needed to be delivered at 28.5 weeks by emergency c-section -- her blood pressure had been perfectly fine & the pregnancy was going very smoothly & then out of the blue -- she got severely ill due to high blood pressure!

I had complete placenta previa and after a big bleed at 24 weeks I was hospitalised. I had another couple of smaller bleeds after which I was given steroids each time and eventually managed to keep my little man in until 33w+2d when I had a major bleed that wasn't stopping on it's own like my previous bleeds, so he was delivered by emergency c-section under GA.

Thank you :flower:

I am keeping positive...and hoping...but trying not to stress over it all, I am in the best possible hands!!

I had problems with the bloodflow from me to the placenta (arterial notching), but they have no idea what caused it. They have said that if/when we want to try again, they will arrange frequent scans to monitor for the same situation arising, but again there would not really be any treatment available.

(OP, you might want to change your sig - it says you're waiting for baby no.1 when I know full well that Alfie is here and thriving :D Andrew waves at Alfie)

I apparently had a cord prolapse at 28 weeks. No one's ever said why. I'm guessing that was the something's falling out down below feeling. My babe also has a cleft and they briefly mentioned that if I would like to try for another baby, they would give counselling, work out genetics and probabilities etc and I would be monitored very closely. I'm still waiting for my bub to come home nearly 8 months later so looking for number 2 isn't high on my priorities. I have thought about it though, and wonder if I could do it again if things were the same as it's been a rough ride. One step at a time. This baby wasn't planned but she's been worth every smile and every tear a million times over.

Good luck to all you mum's going for it again. You have my admiration xxx

Well I had previous complications in 2006 I had a ruptered tube in May and then pregnant again and my uterus ruptered in Nov 2006. Doctor said to not conceive for a year so I actually waited until Nov 2008 and got pregnant. Doctor said I could go to 37 weeks and deliver by c section so that I don't run the risk of my uterus ruptering again. I found out that I had placenta previa at 9 weeks so I was at risk for that as well. At 34+4 my placenta ruptered. And I had an emergency c section. I now and 31 weeks pregnant again and have no sign of placenta previa but am still high risk for my uters ruptering so I am delivering again at 36-37 weeks!! I just hope I can make it to as close to 37 weeks as possible this time!!!
