Do you work?

Great thread! It is very interesting seeing peoples jobs and very surprising the amount of social services type roles (perhaps they are the types who go on forums etc??)

Anyway I'm nothing so interesting - tenancy manager for a corporate company dealing with relocations etc - it pays the bills is all I can say!!!

I sit next to a 25 year old who in her few precious has had no less than 4 abortions (3 of which since we've worked together) which is just soul-destroying to have to listen to...obviously mistakes happen but when you listen to the details I think she seems more like a 15 year old than 25!

Only my boss and one colleague know of my struggles - boss because I need time off for tests etc and my colleague because she had some internal issues recently so I felt like sharing - other than that I'm very private about it and think people just assume we are waiting (although I'm 34 this year so not sure how much longer they think I'll wait!!)

:)

Sry girls wrong area of the forum, nice to meet you all!

I am yet another Social Services bunny!! How strange that so many of us do similar jobs...

I am a social worker, working with children in care. Nobody knows we are ttc but i do shift work so I can work around my appointments.

Can't believe how many people work in Social Care! I am a Branch Manager for a recruitment company who recruit people in..... Health & Social Care! Changed jobs in September so my new company don't know yet, it was hard enough telling the last male boss. They aren't the most compassionate of companies, docked my pay when I went off sick for my lap and dye and wouldn't give me compassionate leave for my grandma's funeral yesterday... can't wait to break the news...

I work in retail .. clothes shop supervisor. Although up to 4 months ago I was working in customer services and had been doing that for nearly 3 years.
Before that I ran a large livery/competition yard, hoping to go back to that once we are settled in NZ

Im the accountant for a small corporate headhunting business .. Not paticulary glamorous but I love my job and my colleagues, however I am the only female in th company so never feel comfortable talking about my personal life let alone our struggles TTC.
Im quite lucky that I can work from home when I need to, so I tend to work my appointments on those days.

I have to be honest though, I am very reluctant to tell anybody at work about trying for a baby let alone our struggles as before I had this Job I used to work for a large national company ( I shall not name names ) I had held my Role for 8 months when I suffered my miscarriage back in 2005, Nobody at work even knew I was pregnant. So I phoned my boss and explained the situation and that I would need a few days off. I took 3 days in total and when I returned to the office on the Monday Morning I was called into a meeting and unceremoniously sacked for and I Quote ' taking an undue amount of time off sick' I hadn't had a day of sick before my miscarriage so I asked him if he was referring to the 3 days I had off due to my M/C. He said it was !!!!

I was in complete shock and left the building immediatly. After a few days of emotional hysteria I became incredibly angry and decided that what this company had done was so wrong that I couldn't let them get away with it. I visited a solicitor and explained the situation. I was told that I could carry the case to a tribunal on the grounds that I was sacked due to pregnancy. (Even though it was not a sucessful pregnanacy it was still pregnancy related)
Long story short it took 18 months to come to court but I stood up with my head held high and I won my case against them.
:happydance::happydance:
That'll teach them to mess with me !!!

I'm so sorry for the loss of your Grandma :hugs:
I hope you're doing okay...

Well I am an IT Manager for of the big 4 Accountancy firms. I work with all men so I havent told them about our problems conceiving although I am going to snap at one of them some day soon as they keep saying 'when are you going to have kids '......argghhhhhhh. :hissy: If only.

My boss is fine with me having time off for hospital/doctors appointments and lets me work from home on those days to make it easier. I haven't actually told him the reason for the appointments although when my letter comes through from the hospital for my Lap and HSG ops I may have to say something then.

Farie - ohhhh lovely job working at the livery/competition yard bet you cant wait to get back to it !!! That would be a great job, working with horses all the time.
