Do your LO ALWAYS respond to their name ?

At home Riya responds to us calling her virtually 100 % of time, hiwever when we are out and about visiting friends, they or us will call her name and she will not even share a glance our way, exspecially if she is playing with something.

Today for example, she was playing and my friend who was sitting 2 feet away behind her, called her 5 or 6 times and she didn't turn around once

Do your toddlers ignore their name when they are playing with something else, or focusing attention elsewhere ? Is it normal to have selective hearing when out and about as they are taking everything in ?

Shes' just over 12 months.

Rocco responds most of the time. But definitely when he's distracted with toys or there are other kids around, sometimes he doesn't. I don't think you have anything to worry about hun.

yeah morgan ignores me if shes "busy" or she looks over then carries on what she was doing
today it was my brother morgans uncle spoke to her 3 or 4 times before she let on she could her him

Yep Dec is the same, I know he is a little older than yours but if he is playing or concentrating on something he totally ignore whoever is calling him. He will also ignore anyone who has annoyed him !! lol

yep zanes very good at ignoring me lol if i call him for something he wants he runs right to me but for when its a bum change or hes been naughty he runs a mile and ignores me lol

Haha yeah I was gonna say, we sometimes get 'ignored' if we're asking him to go to bed or in the bath or something else really really horrible xxx

Kye always responds to his name, except when he is playing with his toys he will glance over the 2nd time I call him and just carry on doing what he is doing.

Alex has selective hearing too - it is normal behaviour at this age - dont worry

Amy doesn't respond to anything except Fraggle for me and her dad. Everyone else who says Amy gets her attention straight away lol.
