does that mean labor is coming, or do most people start dilating slowly for a few weeks??

I was 1 cm dilated for 3 weeks until my water broke and I went into labor.

I know a girl who has been dialated to 3 for 3 weeks. She's 40 weeks now still pregnant lol

My cousin was dilated to 4 for over a week and was induced overdue. So basically it means nothing. My MW tried to make me feel better though about only being dilated to 1, she said "10% of your labor is already done!" hahaha, yeah, thanks!

Best of Luck!

Agree with the others. It really doesnt mean much and you could even go over due. I was walking around 7cm dilated a week late. They sent me to the hospital at that point LOL but I felt great!

I am 1 cm dilated aswell, wish it meant i wouldn't go overdue, but it doesn't :(

With both of my daughters I was 4 cm dilated by 37 weeks! I had them both at 38 weeks, but I had no idea until then that you could walk around dilated :haha:

It means you're 1cm dilated... It pretty much means nothing, sorry ! It could be the slow start of something or its just ........nothing! I was 1cm dilated for the whole 3rd trimester in my last pg. baby came via planned csection at 38 weeks.

Could mean you'll go in the next few days, could be the next few weeks! I was 2 cm dilated then had her the next day but I was 40+5 when they saw I was 2cm. Others have been 3 cm dilated for weeks

I've been dilated to a 2 since week 37- now I am 42 weeks, so it doesn't really mean too much unfortunately :(

ohhh i hope im walking around secretly 7cm Dilated! Means labour will be lovely and short! haha xx

I've been fully effaced and 1cm dilated for 3 weeks now. Lots of pains too but they dont progress into a pattern.

Was really hoping it meant i would have LO soon but not looking like it :nope:

It means you are 1cm dilated at 37 weeks. Yep, that's it. Doesn't mean anything else.

It means nothin I'm afraid.

I don't know why doctors give you guys these pointless numbers
