Im off to see my doctor tomorrow to ask for a LAP before IUI, but will need to be referred to a new gynae.

Im quite nervous about going tomorrow tho, and am half tempted to cancel it because i kinda feel like she will think im being a div for wanting a lap, and why wouldnt i just want to crack on with IUI, but I guess I need to just explain I want the proper all clear before going through IUI treatment?
I dont need to say anymore do i??

Hey hun,

Dont feel silly.... like my doctor say's you just want to "Dot the 'I's and cross the 'T's" before you crack on with IUI. You can't do that before you have your Lap, else you will have doubts before you start your treatment.

Go for it, good luck be brave and ask for the Lap. If you don't ask you don't get.

BIG

good luck tomorrow sweetie :)...you are strong and you go in there and get what you need ok?:)

Ohh hunny, don't cancel and don't be nervous! Everything will be fine!! Goodluck!!

Sometimes you need to stand your ground with specialists, or they'll just fob you off with more pills. You do what you feel is right. I had to demand a Lap with a Dye test myself.

Good Luck at the Dr.s tomorrow! And yes, be assertive with them. You are your best advocate - ask for what you want. And then ask for reasons why not if they don't recommend it. You deserve it!

Good luck, hope it goes well, will be keeping an eye out for your update...

Good luck hun. Be strong and you'll get what u need x

Don't forget to let us know how u get on

Hays, I was in the exact same position. I had a lap last year (had get referral to another gynae) and now am gonna have IUI. My original consultant wanted to go ahead without doing one if it was necessary at the time. Fortunately. the lap and dye was clear(2nd hsg) and so I could rule it out.

Don't fell like a diva, my original consultant who I'm back with now made me feell like that but I was adamant that I wanted this checked and had to go to my gp to see someone else(which he knows nothing about) The other consultant was lovely and totally understood the situation. He said why would you want to go ahead with a treatment before you have ruled out any underlying conditions.

So...go for it, be in control and good luck honey!

Hi hun, good luck at the docs today xxx

hey ladies, my doctor was really good, shes not patronising atall and said she totally understands where im coming from. She had recently been on a course about fertility etc.and her only concern is that because I've seen a gynae and had the HSG, if I go to him or another, they will all say not to have a lap, they stick by a strict protocol apparently, and go by your age. She said shes willing to refer me but said to bare in mind that the referral could take 3-4months to be seen, then if they do agree to do the lap,it could take a further 3-4 months for op!so in all that time, I could have had IUI and got pregnant, so Im going to leave the Lap for now, go forward with IUI, see how I get on then go back to gynae if its still not happening
xx

Thanks chick, yeh I think so!! now the journey of IUI starts, alittle scary!!xx

Yeah I think it's only natural to feel a bit scared, I know I would be.... but it's another step along for you so that's very positive.

Fingers crossed for that bfp soon xx

:hugs:

When are you starting IUI hun as I am now looking into this to x
