does a doctor have to make the appointment with the specialist or can i?

I'm 17. My doctor gave me an option to see a specialist because of my age and weight. my husband and I decided we would see him. My doctor was supposed to make me an appointment with a specialist. when my nurse called today i asked her about it. she said my doctor would call me after she made my appointment. I'm afraid she won't make it. and if she does im afraid she won't make it soon or on a day with a busy schedule. is there any way i can make it myself? I'm also in the process of changing insurance my old insurance ends today. I still have a few papers to give to give to dhs before they cab switch it. which I plan in doing tomorrow or Monday.

never heard of seeing specialist because age unless your like 13....but ur not..as thirteen is young and not developed yet..

may I ask what is the concern? You dont have to answer so please do not feel that you do. im just curious..

your doctor need to work things out for the first app with specialist...after that its you...

I had a teen preg 'specialist' mw and i wa 16/17. It's not so much the developmental reason, but more emotional because teen preg mws are trained to deal with young people and let them know what benefits are available for them etc. At least that's what its like here anyway x

Specialist at 17? How odd. I've never heard of that.
