Does an evap line have colour in it (with photo)?

I tested this afternoon with what I thought was an OPK (they are in the same packet as bought them off the internet and look exactly the same). Anyway, after 10 minutes (I had a shower so didn't check before then) I looked at the test and this was the image:

I then went to put the test in the bin and always put it back in the packet to dispose of it and it was only then I realised it was a 10 miu (is that right) pregnancy test! Sorry it is in a bit of a state, I pulled it to bits a little while I looked at it as I had wet hands from the shower!

There is absolutely no way anyone could get a positive at 5 DPO so I am presuming this is an evap line... Can they have colour to them?

I then did an OPK and that came up with a line also... (hence the back ground of the picture).

I have also put this in 2 WW as had this been in 5 days time I would have been jumping up and down with joy. However, I am 100% convinced this is an evap line, but having never had one before I did not know what they looked like...

That looks like an indentation more than a true line. Try a different brand.

Sorry I don't have answer for you. Hope someone knows what's going on and hope you get your BFP! :dust:

Generally speaking, evap lines are thinner than the control line. I can't see the photo well enough to judge whether this is or not, but I wouldn't trust it if you checked it after 10 minutes anyway. Sorry chick, I'd test again later.

So an indentation could have colour too?

This is far more complicated than I could ever imagine :D

I only have 2 of these anyway (well one now) as they came with my OPKs.

I have no plans to test again for a while as didn't even intend to use this! :D

I would say yes, it is thinner so that is a good thing to look out for when doing these tests. If the lines are thinner, they are evap lines.

You can zoom in on the picture too I think... you just need to click on it.

IC's have gotten evaps with color but not an indentation line. An indentation line is just like a line going down. It should be gray though, or even white. But if has color then it's an evap. Plus, at 5dpo it's pretty early so, I wouldn't trust it either way. I'd wait until you're about 9dpo and up.

It definitely has colour... I checked that when I looked at it.

I bent it around my finger and there was a definite pink line there so looking like an evap.

I know what you mean about an indentation. Sometimes you can see a greyish line when you tilt the test even before testing with it, but this was thicker than that line and had a real pink colour to it.

OK... so I officially know what an Evap line looks like!

I have no intentions of testing at all until after my period is due... I am such a blonde using the wrong bloody test! Only me eh?!

Lol, nope. Definitely not just you!! I've tested that early before. You have 5 days before you can test again. It'll fly by believe me!! :) FX for you!!

i did the exact opposite a couple of weeks ago. i thought i had used a pregnancy test, and when a faint line started to show up within a couple of minutes i totally freaked out only to find that it was actually an ovulation test. super bummer!

Sooooo... glad it is not just me ttcnewbie!!!

I need to order some pregnancy tests though, so at least it made me realise I need to order some :D Can anyone recommend a brand to buy and where to buy them from? I would prefer not to use FRER straight away due to the costs of them.
