I am only 6.5 weeks and in the last couple of days I seem to get short of breath a lot. I am a fit person so when I walk/ride my bike I never have trouble breathing, but when I am just sitting and watching t.v. I suddenly become short of breath and feel like I need water (even though I have been drinking a TON of water every day).

I'm thinking I might be low on iron? Or is this a normal pregnancy symptom? I thought I wouldn't feel short of breath until the third trimester

I've been getting short of breath aswell over the last week or so. Not sure what it is
Hope it sorts itself out for both of us x

I had that not long after I found out I was pregnant. I don't know why. Maybe it's stress related?? Mine only lasted a day though and I haven't had it again since.

i get short of breath specially when i bend over cleaning the floors .. ugh its horrible i never used to bt now last couple weeks i have bad x

Yep me too... been short of breath since 4-5 weeks and am now 10+2 it is easing but still catches me out sometimes!

Hi, I have been suffering with this too. I read somewhere that it is common because there is so much more blood in your body now, that your heart has to work harder to pump it around and therefore will sometimes make you breathless.

I thought it was my imagination, thanks for the explination blondie,.

No problem at all - I thought I was getting so unfit when I was out of breath walking up the stairs! I had to stop for a while and take some deep breathes! I am sure that is what causes it though. If not, I am sure someone will give us the right info.

Good luck all with your pregnancies x

Yeah it's to do with the blood thing as mentioned above, imagine eating a 3 course meal then walking up a hill - bit like that really! I got it bad, I get breathlessness anyway but with asthma and walking up a steep hill to work it's a nightmare at the moment!

I get it randomly, it sometimes feel like my heart is beating out of my chest and I find it hard to speak

Me too! Even if I raise my voice a little louder than my normal speaking voice (like to get the dogs attention) I feel like a can't get a deep enough breath!

Yep, I get short of breath randomly. It's crazy how hard our bodies are working around the clock, isn't it?

Me too. I had trouble teaching in front of the class as I would run out of air. I also get breathless doing small tasks like making the bed and walking the dog. I am so glad I am on school holidays for the next 4 weeks so I can take it easy through most of the first tri.

I get this too, mainly at night. For me, I know its my anemia. I always get it when pg, and it lasts the whole way through, no matter how much Iron I take. Its really annoying. x

i been to the doctors today and mentioned it, she said its common in pregnancy and has given me an inhaler to help x
