My mum has just been to the doctors to get a small spot about the size of a garden pea checked out ( on her face ) and the doctor has said that he is pretty sure its skin cancer. BUT also said that it cant spread and definitely isnt the type to kill you. Obviously im worried sick, do you know anyone thats had it and made a full recovery? My grandad had a tiny patch a few years ago and had it removed and that never came back... but this is my mum  Not that I love my grandad any less but i'm sure you know what I mean xxx

My dad had a patch removed 20 years ago, and was fine since. There are a few kinds and they look quite different, but if the doctor says its not the spreading kind, that very reassurring.try not to worry. My dad needed a small operation to remove and to stay in hospital for a few hours, then had some stitches which needed to be removed after a week.

I should say that my dad does have cancer at the moment, but definitely not related to his skin cancer

My mum has had a couple removed from her face too, the doctor said they were rodent ulcers or basal cell carcinomas (they are the same thing) she had them removed at the hospital, was out the same day, no other treatment needed.

Hi there... my mum had a rodent ulcer removed from under her eye a couple of years ago. She went to her GP for something completely separate and he spotted it. I suppose it helped that he specialises in skin disorders. Because of the area she had a rather large scar but that has pretty much gone now. She didn't need any further treatment.
Hope that reassures you a little.

I had a friend who had some removed when she was 17, she's 27 now and never had it since.
