Just want to know if any of you ladies know how risky it would be to have a fifth section?

I'm not sure but didn't want to read and run. Hope someone can help. I am about to have my third c section x

Not sure, but it may be less risky than a V-bac, since you've had four sections. If my pregnancy goes well, I'll have another section (my second). I really trust my doctor, so I'd ask your doctor, and if you don't trust him/her, I'd get another opinion. xxxx

i suppose it depends on your previous experiences and whether you had any complications with them.

Its actually my 4th c-section, I was just enquiring about the risks if I were to have a fifth c-section.:hugs:

I'm also having my 4th c-section in a few months time. Not sure how safe a 5th would be? I imagine if you're under good care, and leave enough time for your body to heal properly between births, it should be okay? Not sure if I'll be brave enough though, LOL. I can feel my scars stretching during this pregnancy, but it could be because I had quite a few complications after 2 of my 3 c-sections.

Hiya BlueHadeda, when will you be having your section?

Truthfully, I think I will be getting sterilised after this section. I think that would be the right decision. My Ob did say that I would be asking for it if I took a fifth chance.

This pregnancy has not gone smooth for me. I have been on bedrest since week 17 due to having continuous tightenings. My midwife said that this was happening due to my abdomen muscles being weak. I think the previous c-sections may have also something to do with this. I have also been feeling alot of strains on the sides of my abdomen this time whereas in my previous pregnancies I did not feel this :hugs:

My date is scheduled for the 25th of July, but I seriously doubt we'll see it (I'll be 38 weeks). I tend to have my babies at 37 weeks. When is your c-sect date?

Yes, that's it...like straining on the side of my abdomen. Sometimes a sharp, burning pain for a minute or so, especially if I've done too much. Bed rest is probably a good thing, LOL. I also have tightenings, but mine is (we think) due to a UTI that I'm struggling to get rid of. So yes, I too have agreed to seriously consider having a sterilisation with the c-sect. My husband can't take the worry of pregnancy anymore!

I am due on the 7th September, seriously don't think I will last that long due to the tightenings but you never know :hugs:

Thats something your Cons would advise you on, once you had had your 4th and healed up etc. They need to take a serious ultrasound look at the internal scarring, if there are any adhesions (scar stuck to other bits like bladder etc)

My cousin had 4 c sections....then was told that due to her internal scarring a fifth PREGNANCY would be catastrophic to mum and baby.

Its each to his own though, and needs to be discussed on an individual basis, we are all different. Its very much down to how each scar has healed..not just externally but internally too. They certainly wouldnt advise a VBAC though.
