Hi there

I have recently found out that I'm pregnant with my 3rd child and we are desperately short of money. I have to buy everything again as I sold all of my baby stuff a while ago as we were not planning on having any more children. To cut costs in one area I was thinking of making my own nappies, however, do not have a clue where to start. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I think Princessellie made some of her own nappies ?? x x

No I haven't made them but I was going to when I was pregnant, hence the site

you might want to have a look on ebay, you can get some right bargains on there! xx

Thank you alice&bump I'll have a look on ebay, there seems to be so many different types and styles around and I think its all really confusing. Or maybe my pregnancy brain is settling in already!?

lol well i've got bambino mio ones and they go on ebay for a lot less than rrp. i think they're the most cost effective aswell cos they take hardly and time to dry - the terry ones seem quite bulky!

Hey Hun.i'm on my 4th baby.I have 2 in nappies. It can be expensive when they are 1st born but I managed it well and now I only buy 2 packets (1 per child)a week.£10 as they are usually on offer. My main tip is when ever you go shopping etc pick up a pack a week that was a god send to me.Or if peeps ask what you want for bubba ask for boots vouchers.I know it's not the answer you were looking for but I though I would let you know I did it.Also hun you do get Child benefit and tax credits usually this should cover everything.I have vests and baby gros in fab condition I will happily give to you if you want to pm me your address.I know the pinch with 4 kids!!!!!!

Thanks again alice&bump, its good to hear someone using reusable nappies and recommending a particular brand. They look so cute don't they. One of my friends has a minki nappy (think that's what she called it) that she never got round to using so she said she'll give it to me and I can use that as a template for making some. I think I'll try and make one first before buying a load, my mum and aunt have loads of material that I can have so I hopefully won't need to spend out anything on fabric and elastic etc.

:hug: Ahhhh thank you so much '4th bump', what a lovely gesture :hugs: but I've just bought a bundle of vests off ebay for less than £3.50 inc postage !!!!!! Its actually quite amazing how cheap newborn clothes are on there! Plus you'll probably need the vests now that you're on your 4th bump! Thank you once again, you are very kind! So what's it like having more than 2 children then? Please tell me its good!

love

Sorry, I've just looked at your photograph and see you've already had your 4th bump! What a gorgeous family! You must be proud! x

This is a great resource for making your own diapers. I have all the materials to make mine, just not the time.

Having 4 isn't to bad.My eldest is 11 so she is a god send to me.The 2 year old was awful when the baby came along.I only managed to mummy feed for 8 weeks rather than the 6 mths I normally go for.The hardest part is the washing! And trying to get a balance in day to day chores. It's amazing though it all gets done all be it i'm knackered!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck hun and if you want any advice or just a ear to rant you know where to find me xxxxxx
