Does anyone's weight fluctuate 5/6 lbs during the day? I wake up at a weight of 124lbs and at bedtime I am at 130. Some mornings I am still around 128 (I guess I ate a large dinner!) and still put on 5lbs, ending at 133 at night. Sigh.

I am 19+3 and started off at 116lbs - so I have put on either 8 or 14lbs in one month - that's a large differential, argh!!

It frustrates me as I don't know which weight to use when tracking if I am gaining enough/too much. Any advice? Thanks.

I always weigh myself first thing and I've put on about 6 lbs but I'm always 2 or 3 heavier at night.... By those numbers I always go by my morning weight!!! It freaks me out as the scales go up... Keep telling myself... It's not me it's the baby , it's not me it's the baby!!!

Only weigh yourself once a day and at the same time, you shouldn't be weighing yourself twice a day! It'll just cause stress!! :)

Given that you don't weigh much to begin with (unless you are very short!) I should mention it to a doctor, just to be safe. Rapid fluctuations in weight can occasionally be a sign of pregnancy complications...

I always weigh 5lbs more at night than i did in the morning. I go strictly by the first thing in the morning weight. So i'll weigh myself today at 8 am and tomorrow at 8 am and go by that difference.

What evian said - only weigh once a day and at the same time. For purely experimental purposes I have weighed myself in the evening before (pre pregnancy) and was about 3/4 lbs heavier than in the morning so I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I tend to weigh about 5 pounds heavier at night - pregnant or not! But if you're worried, do talk to your doctors. But when you're tracking, use the same time of day measurements, and if you're recording, note if it's after a heavy or salty meal the previous day.

I weigh about 4 pounds more at night. Like PP already said if you want to keep accurate track of your weight, just weigh yourself once a day and always at the same time.

thanks everyone. i am still amazed at my ability to michelin-man bloat as much as i do!

That's totally normal, pregnant or not. As others suggested, pick a time of day and stick with it to get a more accurate picture of your weight gain.

Even when I'm not pregnant I fluctuate 5+ lbs in a day. Only weigh yourself one time a day at the same time of day. Even better only weigh yourself once a week. :winkwink:

Even when not pregnant I fluctuate in lbs a LOT from day to day... the heavier I am, the more I fluctuate (when I weigh less the fluctuation is 3-5lbs and when I weigh more it can fluctuate 5-8lbs)
I don't know why, but I've never worried too much about it. Maybe the bigger you are, the more water you can retain? Water retention and undigested meals (constipation) can add up on us fast! :haha:

I've also occasionaly had home scales that gave me different readings, so I always weigh myself 2-3 times in a row to make sure the same number keeps coming up :haha:
But yes... record your weight at the same time every day (I won't judge ya for weighing again later, lol.. but when you record it, pick a time and stick with it!)

Yes this has always happened to me! I only go off my waking weight (once I've emptied my bladder!) as the day goes on I tend to gain about 4lb! I wouldn't say its anything to worry about x
