My consultant asked last week if I've had any tightenings (I'm assuming she meant Braxton hicks) but I've felt sod all.

Do you always have these at some point and its just too early for me or have you gone into labour having never experienced Braxton hicks?

I've had them with all of mine, but this time they are really bad for some reason. But I do know people who have never had them.

You don't always (or more likely, you do but you don't feel them). I never had any that I know of. I went into labour naturally at 37 + 5.

I've had them with all 3 pregnancies. Been very bad with this one, can feel my bump getting tighter and tighter to the point of it being quite painful, often happens when standing up or walking. Not sure how much having them means though as had them quite a lot with my first son and he was induced 2 weeks late!!

I didn't have a clue that I was even having them until it was pointed out by my midwife very recently. If I hadn't been having them at that point then I still wouldn't know now.

With DS I swear I didnt feel a single one and everyone kept going on about them!

This pregnancy I definately feel them all the time!

I've had them starting around 18 weeks. I usually have them every few days but I have a friend that's due two weeks before me and she hasn't had any so far!

I've had them since around 20 weeks. I was put on bed rest around 23-24 weeks for 1 week because mine got so bad.
One of my friends didn't experience them at all when she was pregnant with her daughter.
Most of my other pregnant friends got them but they all said they didn't get them until the last maybe 8 weeks of pregnancy.
so strange how everybody's pregnancies can be SO different

I had some the first time round but none at all last time! The first 'tightenings' I had were labour.

I have been getting them fairly regular for the past couple days, even ended up in the hospital to be monitored. Every two weeks the dr has been doing a fetal fibronectin test and the last one was negative so he sent me home and told me I have less than 1% chance of going into labor within the next two weeks. I still have them pretty regularly, and was having them every 3-4 minutes at the hospital. Hoping it means I wont go over my due date!!

I never had any. I had an OB appt on May 16 and my doctor said all looked good and he'd see me back for another check in two weeks and 6 hours later my water broke and I went into labor...never having had any bh.

I never ever experienced one single BH with DS1. And w DS2 I never ever had one bH until about 13 hours after my water broke. But this pregnancy I've had loads of them. Which I wasn't really expecting since I never had them in previous pregnancys. So it's totally possible to either not have any BHs at all or just not notice them. They can be quite subtle at times so sometimes they can be easily missed. But not everyone gets them. And fear not it doesn't indicate anything at all about how labor will go

I've had them with both pregnancies, but this lot are definitely worse than the first. Apparently you get them more if you're dehydrated. Maybe you're just really hydrated ;)

You don't need to feel them. They're happening. They're just preparing your body (not necessarily you) for labour.

Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy x
