does having polycysts cause harm to fallopian tube?!

Hi I really hope there is someone that can help or give me some advice.

We have been ttc since sept 08 & I got diagnosed with polycysts on my only ovary in June 09. I am booked into have a HyCoSy to check any blockages of my fallopian tube nest mon & I am really worried that the tube will either be blocked or damaged beyond repair!! Does having polycysts on the ovary cause damage to the tube? As I only have the 1 tube & ovary I think I am more scared as if it is bad news then is that it for us with ttc? Has anyone had the HycOsY done? what can be done if there is bad news?

If the tube is damaged ivf can be done. I only have one tube, and its abnormally long. I have been told that if al else fails I will at least be a good ivf candidate.

When they removed the right tube (after an ectopic) the did pop some cysts, but I am not sure if there was a connection. Good luck hun xxxx

Hey huni i have pcos and i dont think this affects the tubes in anyway..
If they did find you had blocked tubes I think it depends where they blockage is and how serious it is as things can be treated.. (this is my understanding) again im not doctor and can not say but i do know pcos does not affect your tubes..

I too have a hsg booked in the next few weeks, my gyno wouldnt give me medication to help with ovulation until this scan was done.. I take it this is the case for u too..

I really wouldnt worry about the tubes until u have the scan done as thats the only way things will be more clearer for your gyno to see and decide wot treatment is best for u, my gyno explained that its a procedure they follow before giving any medication..

Crypto1976...so sorry to hear about your ectopic that you had, but good news your doc still seems hopefully even with just the 1 tube & like you say IVF is always an option. I dont know what we would do if we were told IVF was our last hope....we have a daughter who is nearly 4 so we would have to fund it ourselves hope you get a BFP soon.

Beauty.....good luck with your HSG, have you had the day 2-3 & 21 bloodtests done? I had them done & the specialist says I am ovulating ok so I dont think they will give me anything even if my tube is clear & fine. Altho have heard of women who have pcos & been prescribed clomid even when they were ovulating as to help them produce better eggs?? would love to go on clomid as wanna give anything a try!! lol..

I have had cd2 tests done which confirmed pcos and a unltrasound scan!!

I have had loads of cd21 tests done which dont show ovulation. My cycles vary so much from cd35 to cd60 so actually trying to pin point the tests is a real issues and every test i have done has been the wrong time and AF not shown for weeks after test..

So as far as i know, if i do ovulate then its prob not as often as it should be!!
Gyno said she prob gonna run clomid and metroformin together for me to help with the ovulation so just got to get hsg out the way first which is in about 3 weeks!!
