I'm a little curious to see what others think. I'm really short 4'11 and I always figure well the baby has no where to go but up and out and I can never feel my uterus, my stomach is pretty solid all the way round now. I've heard so many things about where your uterus is at 14-15 weeks but is it different if your shorter? like Would my uterus reach around my belly button around now, thats where I "feel" it is, about an inch down from my belly button.
Any other really short girls or any really tall girls who have experience in this. If you're tall do you show later?
I'm just curious

I think it has more to do with the length of your torso. Some really tall girls have short torsos and really long legs, while some short women have long torsos and short legs. The longer the torso the more room for baby to stretch out(and more room for your organs to move around to as well), so you tend to show later. But it also has to do with the placement of your uterus. I have a long torso, but my uterus is positioned very forward, and so I tend to show super early. I guess everyone is different, as is the answer to pretty much everything when it comes to pregnancy!!!

I never even thought of that. I have a short torso, I also have short legs LOL but I think in comparison, I'm more legs. I also have a tilted forward uterus.

I'm quite tall, just shy of 6ft, with a long torso. With my first I didn't get a true bump till around the time I was 6 months. With this one I am showing earlier, but compared to asshorter friend of mine that is a couple weeks behind me I barely look pregnant. I just have a lot of room for a baby to stretch out and hide lol

I am 6 ft tall and 5 1/2 months pregnant and I don't look pregnant at all. I have no idea when I'll start showing! I can't wait though.

I'm 5' tall (5'1" on a good day) and pretty short in the torso. At 20 weeks or therabouts, I already have a pretty good bump. It's actually really popped out in the last week or so. I gave up trying to wear non-materinty pants a few weeks ago, even going up in size on regular jeans isn't working now.

I've felt like I just looked fat for the last 2 months, so I'm glad to finally be looking like I *might* be pregnant now, lol

I'm 5"7/8 and by 16 weeks my uterus was at my belly button, at 21 weeks he was already up in my ribs and I have a high up bump that I think is rather cute:smug::haha:
I think it just depends person to person, my FOB's cousin is my height and she was hugeee by now so I try not to compare :) x

I'm 5 foot 4, my legs are probably shorter in comparison to my torso. But baby is very low down for me most of the time.
I called my midwife about a fee uncomfortable tummy pains at around 15 weeks I think it was and she said that this is the point your womb is moving up and over the next month you'll find it's up by your belly button (or at least nearly there). But my kicks from baby are still particularly low down, bump definitely has moved a little higher though as my belly button is starting to pop out more and the bump looks a little more noticeable but I think he's quite low down still, although at the scan his legs were lower and head was up higher near my belly button like he was sat up!

I think it would depend on the size of your hips too! I think for my height and weight my hips are quite wide, so maybe he's say low down because of that? Where as maybe smaller hips on women, baby would protrude upwards and outwards a little more???

Torso length definitely makes a difference. I'm 6ft tall with a long body and my fundal height usually measures behind when I'm pregnant, and I've never had that perfect round bump.. I just fill out and look fat. Lol. I've never had anyone ask me when I'm due or anything like that, even at full term with my third. I thought I was huge! :haha:

I'm 5'2" and have been showing very clearly since 14 weeks, my uterus is up at my belly button already and has been for at least a week or two. I have a short torso (and short legs haha). Everyone keeps telling me that I will be toppling over by the time I'm 9 months haha. For instance my avatar was my bump at 16 weeks and I had a flat stomach pre-pregnancy

I am 5'2" and have a very short torso and this is my 16+2 week bump pic, my best friend is 5'7" with a long torso and 18+2 today and her bump is about 1/4 the size mine was at 16 so I think torso size makes a huge difference.

I have a feeling I'm going to be huge by November.x)
Someone asked me if I was having twins because my tummy popped already at 14 weeks. (probably a little before that but I haven't noticed a real bump and not bloat till now.)

I am 5ft 3in and at 24 weeks my uterus is now just under my ribcage...feeling huge lol

Hmm, I'm a bit of an oddity. I'm 5ft3 with a short torso and usually a flat stomach and I carry small. With my first my bump didnt arrive until 22wks. This time it was much earlier - 18wks but I'm still wearing all my normal clothes and I haven't told work yet (21wks). I think because I'm hourglass, I 'fill' out, so get a thicker waist before a bump appears. My 9mth bump last time was the same as my sister's 6mth one. I was in shock that my son was 8lbs and long, and so were the midwives!!

Hmm, thats interesting. Is your uterus tilted back or anything?

Not that I know of. At the scans my babies were breech and always have their knees up to their chest, so make themselves smaller. I've also had an anterior placenta both times and I used to be a swimmer so I know the first time my stomach muscles were stronger, but I doubt they are now! I guess it's a combination of everything. My mum carried small too (5ft4) so maybe there is something in the way we are built that we carry under our rib cage or something.

I'm 5'4 and my bumps always showed early and my bumps always look the same (first two are boys and we are team yellow but I am convinced it's another boy). My legs and torso are quite even and I have a slender body (34,27,34) prepregnancy.

I think it's just body type and the way your uterus is positioned in your body. I also had two big babies: 9lbs and 8lbs9oz. I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Just to pop in, I am 5'0", and overweight. I showed very early with LO, like 10-11 weeks. I was outgrowing a lot of my maternity shirts at 30+ weeks (I was huge) and never made it past 33 weeks due to Pre-E, but anyway. I showed early, and was huge - but always measured right on track.

I was so happy to show, but also so envious of people who are barely showing at 20+ weeks! I was already huge! I'm TTC now and planned to hide this pregnancy at work for a while, but given how early I showed last time and this being my second...
