So DH and I have been discussing names and we've come up with our girls name finally...

Allivia Ava

We're kind of stuck on the spelling though of Allivia. I like Alivia too but I think what's putting me off is that it's quite a lot more popular than Allivia.

There has only been 48 registered births of Allivia since 1880 but for Alivia there has been well over 10,000.

Also what do you think of
Ava Allivia?
Or
Ava Aurelia?

Our last name starts with B and is one syllable.

For our boys name we love

Timothy
Fredrick
Zachariah
Atticus
Cassius

I personally like Ava Allivia. I don't personally think popularity matters because honestly I have only ever heard Ava but have never known anyone to use the girl names you have picked. I personally like Timothy for a boy it has just always been something I liked as a boy name but won't use myself because it's my uncles name. In the end it's what you guys like best and should be a mutual decision. I am sure whatever you choose it will be beautiful because you have some great names picked out. For my baby on the way if it's a girl I am naming her Emily Grace and if it's a boy I am naming him Kyle Zane. Everyone just has their own personal preferences and names they like. So it comes down to what you like best I think.

I like Ava Alivia.

Personally I don't see the point in going for a particular spelling just because it's not as popular as another spelling. Seems like in the end they're really just the same name, just one version is more likely to get mispelled than another. I'd stick with the spelling you like.

For the record I've heard of Olivia, but never Alivia. It's nice with the A. :flower:

got to admit I dont understand the 'popular' rubbish

its the same name either way and who cares about spelling anyway?

when I was little Rachael was the most popular name but all the Rachels got lumped together too because its the same name lol

I dont think the spelling matters that much just choose your favourite. Do you pronounce the name like Olivia?

I know what you mean about the spelling, I posted on here the other day about the spelling of a name, but upon reflection and reading some of the responses I got, I think its probably best to go with the 'normal' spelling, otherwise you're trying to make the name you love something different iykwim .

I LOVE Ava, it was one of my favourites, but I have to admit, the popularity doesnt exactly bother me, but it does niggle me a bit. That said by the time I have my planned baby, It may well be out of the top ten and a contender again :winkwink:

From your names I think Ava Alivia sounds best :flower:

Allivia is like Olivia but I prefer it with the harder sound of A ( ah-livia) rather than (uh-livia).

Because it's such an uncommon name anyway I don't think I have to worry that there will be another person for them to get clumped together with.

I am starting to warm to Alivia more but when writing it down I think Allivia looks prettier!

I've never even heard of Alivia/Allivia - whereabouts are you? In UK you'd have no problem with it being too popular. Ava is fairly popular in UK though but I wouldn't let it put me off (I've always loved Isobel and we agonised over how popular it's become but just went for it in the end).

I prefer the single L to double L spelling but choose the one you like rather than by popularity. It's not the spelling that can make a name too popular, it's being the same pronunciation and therefore same name in people's eyes.

I think the biggest potential concern with Alivia is people mishearing and her getting called Olivia a lot - especially if you're in UK as Olivia is a very very popular name here.

I think this is just a variation of Olivia which is quite a popular name so if you truly want a unique name this is not one, just an unusual spelling which your daughter will have to clarify every time someone wants to know her name (speaking as someone who has a very popular name with an unusual spelling). It's a perfectly fine name if you like it but not "unusual".

I definitely prefer Ava Alivia to Alivia Ava. Seems to flow better. Also, I think maybe the "A"s run together, maybe just my accent when I say it aloud though - like I won't use Caleb because our surname starts with a B. I'm there with the other poster with a popular name with an unusual spelling - although you can spell Linzi (which is my spelling) about 8973 different ways anyway x

Linzi has to be mordern spelling right... the original/classic is Lindsey

Yeah I think so! I used to think when I was younger that my Mum and Dad just made it up - or they couldn't spell! I had a boy in my school called Lindsey, and girls called Lynsey and Lindsay. Much confusion!
