Max is 3.5 months so the recommended number of bottles is 5 bottles of 7 ounces, the thing is he sometimes drops one if he doesnt wake up till late, he has his last bottle at 10pm then goes to sleep till 7, if he wakes at 7 for a bottle we can fit all 5 bottle in every 4 hours, but recently he hasnt been waking till 9 which means he has his last bottle at 9/10 but has only had 4 in the day... is this really bad? should i be waking him at 7 to give him his first bottle, should i try and squeeze an extra one in the day? do any of your babies sometimes have less than the recommended number?

Carmen in just over 3 moths and She takes 5 bottles of 5 oz (sometimes 6) I always freak out if she doesn't eat enough but then I think if she is getting plenty wet nappies, and is happy during wake time there is nothing to worry. I'm sure He would let you know if He needed more.

Is that from the guide on the side of the pack? That was never ever right in terms of my LO's age. Slightly more accurate from her weight, but still out most of the time. Those figures really are just a rough guide, they're not to be taken as gospel :)

It sounds like he is taking on plenty, and as the poster above said, he'd let you know if needed more :)

yeah its from the c&G tub, and their website, i looked on the internet to see if i could find another chart to see if it was the same and they both said the same thing. thanks for your replies ladies :)

No worries.

I don't think I've known anyone whose baby followed the chart on the side of the tub :) I wonder what babies they based it on :haha:

Anna has never took the recommended tub amounts.

She has been on 5 bottles of 5oz since around 3 months and now at 6 months she is on 4 bottles of 6oz so not increased the amount at all. Yet her weight is has jumped 2 centiles since 3months?

I have mentioned my worries a few times to the HV but they just look at Anna and see that she is healthy and active etc and know all is well and she is getting enough from the milk she takes:flower:

Omar always takes less than the recommended on the tub (1 feed less). But it didnt affect his weight gain. he's a big baby & his weight gain is steady.

Charlie has recently started sleeping through and now only has 4 6oz bottles a day. I was a bit worried but he's happy and is still gaining weight fine. x

Thanks! that puts mind at ease as thats what max has just started Doin!

dont know if it helps but ive never worried about the amount of bottles she has or how much in each feed. my system is how much she has in 24 hours....i will explain.. she is supposed to have between 2.5 and 2.7oz per lb of her weight. so she weighs nearly 10lb now so x that by 2.5 or 2.7 and you get between 25 and 27 oz in 24 hours. some feeds she take 4oz some she only takes 2 but on the whole when i add up what she has had in 24 hours she is right on track.
prob wont work for every one but i know that she is getting enough and if she is having a slow day i know we are prob gonna get woken up in the night more often so can get my head down a little earlier.

That seems like big bottles to me but my babe still takes 7 4oz bottles at 9.5 months. I say feed your babe when hungry, how much they take, they'll let you know. My daughter's nutritionist says as long as she gets 24oz she's getting all the vitamins etc.

Hi

Isaac is 12 weeks and is drinking 5 x 5oz bottles a day...I asked the HV if I should up his feeds but she replied only if he empties all bottles and "wants" more.

Since he empties maybe 2 out of 5, we're keeping things the same.

my LO is 11 weeks old and has only had 10oz over 4 bottles so far today and it's 11pm
she keeps fussing and refusing her bottle, but the doctor says there is nothing wrong with her.
I'm sure this isn't enough, going to get her weighed on tuesday, although she seems healthy and looks like she's putting on weight
