My 19 day old baby literally wants to be held 24/7. Lovely accept I have a toddler to look after! My first was the same! Anyone elee have the same problem? Also at night I have to wait til he is deep asleep before I dare put him into his basket and even then he often wakes! Means I often fall asleep with him in my arms! Oh works away so no help and I'm shattered!

Yep, my girl is the same!! She will occasionally fall asleep in her basket (she's done it 2 or 3 times) but most of the time she'll only fall asleep in our arms. If we try to put her down before she's totally fast asleep she will wake up straight away and cry!

It's hard enough for us and she's our only child, I can only imagine what hard work it is for you with a toddler!

My daughter is the same. She will sleep in her bassinet at night if I put her down in a DEEP sleep but she will only nap in my arms. I love the cuddles but hate that as soon as she wakes up I have to put her down and run off to use the bathroom, cram some food into my face etc. I really should be using her awake time to play and interact with her but I'm spending a good portion of it doing mundane tasks that NEED to be done. Hello, guilt!

Have you thought about using a sling? That way you could have 2 hands free to do other stuff while baby slept on you. I find its the only way I can do it as my LO wants to be held all the time.

This is normal. Your baby has been used to the warmth and security of your womb and is now in this big scary world. I used to lie down with Holly sleeping on my chest for about 30 minutes until she was in a deep sleep - breathing quietly and gone floppy, then placed her down gently in Moses basket.

Mine was exactly the same, she outgrew her basket quickly though. I wish I'd known more about swaddling as I think this would have really helped - do you saddle?

Xx

The problem for me isn't my daughter she'll go sleep perfectly in her own bed but I love holding her in my arms if I'm not tired I don't see a reason why I can't hold her while she sleeps...I'll probably regret it later when she gets too used to it...but I've bought a sling to carry her around in I originally got it for nursing and when were out at stores but I'll probably use it all the time if it's comfortable.
