After several weeks of trying to persude my Dr that my wee girl was suffering fropm silent reflux, we have been prescibed ranitidine ( had prevously been told Gaviscon would be enough!!) but Gaviscon stopped having any effect within a week of taking it :hissy:

before getting the ranitidine she would scream and scream when getting fed and it could happen after one or 3 oz's it was very unpredictable so we would have to try and distract her to try and calm her down so feeding could take up to an hour ( before the reflux she was taking 5-6 o'z per feed)

But she seems to lose interest in the bottle after a few oz's. She dosnt get upset which is great but itys almost like she has forgotton how to take more than a few oz's during a feed IYKWIM?

She is just over 4 months and this all started happening about 7 weeks ago and before this she was great with the feeding

any advice on how she can take more milk again?

Jasmine has reflfux too and the doctor refused to give us the prescription. In the begining she was like that, would only take 2-3 oz. We've finally got her back up to 5-6 oz every 3 hours.

It sucks! But I found that using a slow flow nipple helps alot... keeping her upright alot during the day. I dont know what to suggest about how much she is taking because I just let Jasmine work back up to 5-6oz herself.

We also started rice cereal at 3 months, this helped to keep her from having pain at night. And we switched to a low iron formula which helped too.

Was Jasmine being sick with the reflux? Rebecca has silent reflux so she isnt being sick but the acid is burning coming up then burning going back down so she was starting to associate the bottle with pain :hissy:

Did it take her long to work back up to 5/6oz?

Are you using the correct flow teat? Perhaps the milk is coming out too slowly and she is geting frustrated.

Yes, Jasmine had a really bad period of time where she was really sick.... And was only drinking 16oz a day... It took about a month to get her drinking more again.

Last week I attempted a faster flow teat, but it made her reflux flair up again. It is recommended that babies with reflux use a slower teat because it can irritate the reflux if its too fast.

My SIL breastfed and her flow was too fast too!
