I have started taking domperidone tablets to help increase my BM supply. However my GP and BFsupport lady have only prescribed me 10mg tabs 3x a day ao 30mg in total. It is a lot lower than I was expecting as all of the people I have spoken to (online) about it have all been taking 3x10mg tabs 3x a day so 90mg in total.

I have since started occasionally taking an extra 10mg tab here and there if I notice I am only getting tiny amounts of milk and I do notice an improvement next time I pump.

Do you agree my dose should be higher? Also they only gave me a months supply and if I keep double dosing then Im going to run out soon!

I'm no doctor, but I took higher doses for weeks, then used a low maintenance dose for months. FYI, you can order domperidome without a prescription from several reputable overseas pharmacies without a prescription. I had to do that since in the US it isn't readily available. I used it with my first, and very sparingly withy second. But it's great when needed, especially when working and pumping!

10mg 3 times a day is the starting dose, go back to your GP and get them to increase it if you feel it will be beneficial to your milk supply.

Thanks for the replies. I have spoke to my BF support worker and she agrees I could go higher but the GPs are unlikely to prescribe me higher doses. I will try though, I only got this prescription over the phone so maybe going in person I may be able to persuade them.

I have looked online on inhousepharmacy as ive heard good things about them and they do free shipping.

They have three different brands of domperidone. The cheapest says only three tabs a day but one of them says for breastfeeding up to eight tabs a day. Considering the ingredients and mgs are the same for each brand should I just go with the cheaper ones and up the dose regardless of it saying 3tabs a day?
