I have just bought some Dr Browns to try on Millie, as almost certain she has reflux. Can you share your routines for making up bottles? Only bought 2 at the min to see if any difference. I was using ttctn bottles but she didnt really take to these.

Should I maybe make up in the ttctn bottles and then pour in to the Dr Browns?

At night time I took the tt flask to bed with boiled water and then added formula and then cooled down, so made fresh every time.

Also can you advise on what you do for outings?

thanks everyone:flower:

I put 1 oz of hot water add all formula to it, stir with a spoon, then add the remaining amount of cool water, another stir, put the vent & teat & close. If you add full hot water then formula & vent, etc it leaks. As for night, the same way, I used to keep a flask of hot water. a bottle of cool water & a formula despenser & prepare it the same way.

thanks, only problem with that, is I would need 2 sealed flasks, one with hot, one cooled.
Could I not just make up, cool down and the put units in?

You can also let it cool down before putting it together. As long as you dont put the vent when the water is hot & you dont shake it, any method of preparation you use should be fine hun.

I boil kettle allow to cool 30 mins then add my water and powder, next I stir with a spoon or swill around and round, if you know what I mean...lol
I leave it on the side to cool for a little while before then adding vent. I place in cold water with the cap lose before tightening up and refridgerating. I loosen cap to reheat, my hubby never remebers than bit and we have lots of milk explosions in the warmer :dohh: x x

I was thinking about this too, I try to stir with the milk powder measurer but it doesn't really reach to the bottom of the bottle. I might steralise one of my old avent bottles now too, make up in that and pour into Dr Browns then I can give it a good old shake because I'm not sure it's getting mixed correctly this way and with Katie being on comfort milk it's thicker and harder to mix too!

i boil the kettle, leave for 1/2 a hour to cool slightly then fill the bottles up to 100ml, put the valve together, place in the top and leave the screw top and teat just balanced on top. I leave these in the fridge. When i need a feed, i top up to 180ml with boiling water, add the formula and then stir but take the top off the blue valve and put two fingers in the top so it can reach right down to the bottom if you know what i mean! Its then the perfect temperature to serve and so quick! When im out, i take the bottles with cold water, but fully assemble them with the white disk to stop leaks and a flask of hot water to top up and those little pots of measured out formula powder x

Thanks everyone, really helps to see how others do it. They just don't seem very portable these bottles. Not sure why they have to put 3 holes in the lids weird (must be a reason though). I think I will have to invest in some of those travel caps (more money lol)
