Ok well I have switched to these bottles after Jack got really bad trapped wind with TT closer to nature bottles as he was gulping down too much air but I'm a bit confused with these bottles as the cap has 3 holes in, I sterilise the bottles then add boiling water and leave them on the side to cool down to room temp and use as and when I need them but as the cap has holes does it mean the teat is not sterile?:wacko::wacko: sorry if it sounds stupid I'm a first time mummy and worry about EVERYTHING lol

Never even thought about that, we have been using dr browns for almost 10 months now, and have never had a problem with them not being sterilised because of the lid, i am sure it'll be fine hun. U could always put the travel cap think on, and leave the teat off until ready to use, if u know what i mean? x

I think they should be sterlie - I think the holes in the top are for ventilation or letting out steam of boiling. We steralised everything then made up a bottle and LO never got ill.

I think they should be fine as long as the teat isn't touched or used. I make up bottles in advance and haven't had any problems so far :)

I would assume it's still safe to use; the amount of germs that can get in through the holes is really limited. Also I know it's down to yourself to decide, but I have never sterilised LO's dummies, and she's never had a problem with them not being sterile. The moment you make up the bottle (i.e. with your hands), the teat etc isn't sterile anyway. Your hands can never be germ-free.

I put Avent lids on them if I'm not going to be using them straight away (ie if it's a bottle for a night feed). If I'm going out I just use the doctor Browns lid as I keep them in a bottle bag as they're air tight. Like others have said I don't think it'll make any difference though as it's only the air that will 'touch' it and baby touch the air all the time! I'm just paranoid :p

If you are that concerned, you could always pour a little boiling water over the teat before using it. It will then be sterile again. Just be sure to lert it cool a few mins before using. x
