Hi everyone. My daughter was born at 37 weeks and is now 7 weeks old. We started off breast feeding but because she was so little (5'4) and has a little chin my milk dwindled very quickly and I ended up feeding her with formula. She has been a windy baby from the start but it just keeps getting worse, to the point that it is rare for her to have a very settled sleep. I have tried infacol but find it makes her worse and gripe water seems to have no noticeable effect. I have heard about Dr Browns bottles and would like to try them but am wondering if I should try the wide neck or narrow neck due to her little mouth and jaw/chin. Thanks in advance.

Yes! Major improvement for his gas.I love those bottles and wish I would've bought them from the start.

My. Baby is exactly the same (is improving now) I tried dr Browns bottles& for 24 hours they seemed 2 be the answer to our prayers but, by day3 I thought my lo was gonna explode with wind ! I hope & pray they work for u hun . Only us mums who experience this know how its so painful to not be able to make everything perfect for our los . My lil guy responds best to Avent ( we tried every bottle on market lol ) & ass for colic drops , like u , they didn't help@ all . Although iv yet to try colief . Its crazu I sit winding him for half an hour to get 1 burp :( then he squirms as he sleeps with discomfort but now he's 7 weeks , dare I say it , he does seem 2 be getting it up a lil better . Good luck sweety :)

I gotta add , all our lil 1z are unique & thus respond differently to different things , I belive its rare for bubus to get worse with Dr.Brownz&Im sure theyl be gr8 for ur Lo . My lo is just extremly funny with bottles :s lol . X

Dr Browns have worked wonders for my LO, but like a PP he's now 7 weeks so is generally better with wind.

In the UK I think I only saw the wide necks available but the teat part was a lot smaller than the bottles we started on (tommee tippee) more like a standard bottle but not seeing the others I can't really help on the wide vs standard

Good luck!

Dr Browns bottles are great!! It feels like we have gone through every type of bottle ever made trying to find one that my son liked!

I picked up a starter kit of Dr Browns bottles a couple of weeks ago - instant change!! He was an extremely gassy & miserable baby - his gas has improved so much & he is so much happier in himself now! Any burps he does have come up so easy

Can't recommend them enough!

My baby was the same, born at 36+6 with 5 lb 10 oz then lost 10 oz in the first weekSo her dr recommended formula. We used dr brown small neck for the small bubba.. They r really good. She looked so contained with them, no gas n all. At 2 months she was on 70% tile and maintaing that frm then.
P.S. she developed colic at 1 month even with dr browns anti colic bottles and continued till 3 months....:haha:

my little boy was the same he would literally be writhing in pain from wind... keep at it with the infacol cause it does take a little while to work but Dr Brownes bottles are so worth the money i used them from about the 3rd or 4th week and noticed a huge difference. he is still a windy baby but at least now he can get it up or out lol and the infacol does help too!! xx

So I went out and bought the bottles today :) fingers crossed we see some improvement soon! Thanks everyone for your comments and advice. I will let you know how we go......

After we started Dr. Brown bottles, my DD turned into a wholenew baby. No more crying for hours in pain!!!

I SWEAR by them :D

We tried a few different brands before trying Dr Browns, but I wish we had used them from the start! They make such a difference and are worth the price.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but can anybody tell me how long Dr Browns bottles take to work? My baby suffers with really bad wind (arches his back in pain, pulls his legs up and screams, nothing we do can comfort him). I started him on Dr Browns on the 10th Sept. It's been two days and he's still exactly the same, just wondering if I should have noticed any difference in him by now?

We sware by our DR Brown bottles.
We bought six, very expensive but WORTH it!
We got the size 1's with the bottle but then he moved to size 2 very quickly, the day after we bought a few spare size 2's, he went to size 3! Tesco is cheaper than Boots for teats.

Your baby could be sucking too hard on the teat, causing more gas- have you considered using a bigger teat?

cin- try a bigger teat! Worked wonders for us! Gas wont reduce if he's sucking too hard.

Asda are cheap for teats too - £2.42 for a pack of two! Boots are £3.99!!!

Thanks for the tips, I'll pop down Asdas tomorrow and buy some bigger teats then. Here's hoping it works because it's heartbreaking seeing him in so much pain and not being able to do anything about it! :(

The size 2 teats seem to have done the trick, he's getting through feeds so much faster now BUT yesterday he was diagnosed as having silent reflux so that's probably the reason why my baby was having so much trouble. The poor poor thing :( Thankyou for the tips!
