Hi all! I'm thinking of trying Dr Browns bottles cause LO always has loads of wind and I've read that these are good for this. At the moment we use Tommy tipee. Just wondering if anyone can tell me how you clean them? i've read that it's difficult. I really just want to buy one bottle to try so was wondering if i can clean it with the same brush, etc as the TT?
Also what teat size would you recommend for a 2 month old?. At the moment she's only taking 1 oz at a time! Thanks!

i'm so glad you asked this! we are using avent but outgrowing the 4oz ones now. i hear nothing but good things about dr browns but it seems it would be hard to keep clean. hope you get lots of replies!

I use dr brown bottles as my baby feeds to quickly and they help slow him down and take in less air. I dont find them hard to clean they come with a small brush to clean the inside of the blue tubes and i just use a normal bottle brush for the bottles. I can also get about 4 in my avent steriliser.

I originally used TTCTN bottles and switched to dr browns at around 4 weeks as Abby had terrible wind ( which the dr browns was a massive help with!!)
I bought 2 bottles to start ( the 8oz ones) and just kept washing and sterilising until I was happy with the switch and then bought 4 more which has been plenty. I can also fit 4 in my TT microwave steriliser by following the instructions for loading the TTCTN anti colic bottles.

I started with the level 1 teat and used these for about a month and then switched to level 2. They are slower than TT teats but that's kind of the point so that LO doesn't swallow so much air! The bottles come with level 1 teats so you try these first and then buy the level 2 teats (about £4 for 2 in boots) if necessary?

Have you tried level 2 teats in TT? Just a thought that if your LO is taking so little it might be due to frustration with the flow rate? This could also cause wind too... Just a thought...

Hope that helps xx

Dr Browns are not that hard to clean - they come with a little brush for the fiddly bits and I just used my normal bottle brush for the rest of them. They even fitted in my TT steraliser so that was a bonus - they fiited better than the TT CTN bottles did anyway...

What milk do you use - we were on comfort so always had to use a high level teat. If normal milk I would start with 1 - they come with the bottles, but buy a pack of 2 to try - if your LO isn't ready for 2 you can just save them for when LO is older.

Dr Browns are brill - we still use them at almost 13 months - I am so scared to go to anything else as they sorted her right out.

Dr Browns have been amazing for our little one and I cannot recommend them highly enough. She is so content after a feed and is getting better and better at winding! So pleased with these bottles! And they really aren't hard to clean as they have a tiny brush to get in all the tubes and holes and fiddly bits :) I've even stopped using infacol because the bottles are so good.
10/10 rating!

Cleaning take time but i really like them and believe they helped LO with colic. The bottles come with level 1 nipple for newborn. We still use level 1 at 2 months. I bought level 2 yesterday and i think it is too fast for LO we won't be using it at night just during the day because he drinks too fast and chokes on his formula. It is easy to control the feeding during the day for me anyway.

We started using them at 8 weeks and used a level 1 teat, I actually found they were faster than TT's. She was on level 1 until about 13 weeks and then swapped to 2, and then to 3 pretty quickly after that. She had gavicson in her milk aswell because she had really bad reflux.

As for cleaning them, I didn't find them that hard to clean, not hard at all infact. I still have ours and will probably use them again if needs be for the next baby. They're fine to be reused as long as you get new teats! They are also quite expensive, so I'd probably just buy one or two to try before you get a whole set in case LO doesn't get on with them x

Thanks everyone for the advice! I've just been and bought one. It says Dr Brown "natural flow", hope I've got the right one! It's been really hard to find here in the Canary Isles! Comes with teat 1, but will get a nº 2 just in case. Got it all in the sterilizer at the moment :happydance:, so fingers crossed Madam gets on well with it. Will let u know how it goes, Thanks again!
