Do you dream feed your little one?

My LO is 10 weeks and I've tried dream feeding around 11pm a couple of times but it seems to make her wake even sooner???

Normally she feeds around 7-8pm then goes down around 9. She doesn't feed again until 2-3am (but she does often wake for dummy etc at 12 and 4am.

Do I persevere with trying a dream feed or just let her wake when she wants it?

We have never dream fed we just let Phoebe wake when she is hungry. She is nearly 12 weeks now, we feed her at 630 and put her down at 7 for the night, she has just started to drop her 3am feed and will go until 7am.

As long as you and baby are happy i'd just ket her wake up when she wants it.

We never did the dream feed - only fed her at that hour if she woke up naturally. There were a few times though if she hadn't had a feed from say 6 p.m. and it was now 11 that we'd try to feed her but we quickly learned that it would just upset her so we'd just let her be and let her wake us when she was ready.

We dream fed Hannah but it worked for us, if it's not working for you than I wouldn't do it :) I've heard several people say that it didn't seem to help them :) Must just be one of those things

Vickie, did you have to try a few times to get her to take it or did she seem like she wanted it?

there were some nights when she didn't take much (or any) but the large majority of the time she'd finish quite a lot of the bottle and it did seem to help her sleep a little longer

I never dreamfed any of my kids, I figured if they were hungry they'd wake and then I'd just feed them then..which is what we did :) I think that makes them learn to read their bodies cues for hunger better like that...just just my opinion. If it works for you great :) If it's not though and it's interferring with her sleep I wouldn't do it

Ive started doing this with Leo at 11 pm so I can go to bed and get a few hours un-disturbed sleep! It actually works most of the time and he will then go untill 4/5 am.

As Vickie said, sometimes he's just not interested but most of the time he drains the bottle!

Same here... I didn't start dream feeding Billie until she was around 3 1/2 months though and only because she was still waking at 2, 4 ish and 6ish. Now after her feed she'll sleep til 5 sometimes.

We do this but we didn't really start until we tried getting Joseph into more of a set routine at around 4 months (I think, it has all become a haze now lol). He took to it straight away and it helped him sleep through. When he's teething tho it's totally pointless for us as he is awake throughout the night anyway and doesn't want milk x

Whats a dream feed?

Where you feed them without waking them up, just pick them up, rub the teat on their lips they open their mouth and automatically feed.

I am not against the idea and would use it in the future if Jack started waking earlier especially if I'd already gone back to work. Just so I could get a few hours sleep in one go.

We tried a dream feed at around the same age and it just made him wake more. We tried it again at around 5 months and he was much more settled - now he has no feeds after that until 6am. So if it doesn't work for you now then don't bother with it at the moment - or maybe try doing the DF at a different time - when you settle down into a routine you might find that when feeds are spaced out a bit more she will take a dream feed. It's all trial and error - she may never take it.

I've tried dream feeding but Elyse never seemed to want it, but now she's sleeping better anyway so I don't try anymore. Occasionally I'll see if I can wake her up and get her to eat around 1 or 2am so I can sleep longer though

i did dream feed and found it worked great for my LO i cut it out when after a week of not wanting it at all and i found she now sleeps through the night her last feed is 10pm and she doesn't wake then till around 8.30am.

We feed Nathan at about 7pm and he is in bed asleep around 8pm. Generally he wakes between 2am and 3am for 45 mins then sleeps til 6am or 7am.

I have never heard of dream feeding....how do you burp them?

If I didnt burp him he would have bad wind (down the ways) wake him or vomit it back during a later burp.

Emma.

We have tried a few times, but he locks his jaw!
he'd rather wake mommy and daddy when they're nice and sleepy!

when i was dream feeding gertie i used to wind her after and she never woke up. i used to stop after winding her after she gave me a nice big burp.

But saying that she is a very deep sleeper and can sleep for england.
