Hi,i always give my LO a 'dreamfeed' but its not always a proper dreamfeed,he usually wakes up but it does the same job for me...

So we feed him at 10.30pm,and then put him straight back down to bed...but...he always picks this time of night to do a poo,so we get in bed and LO is making little noises and im laid there with my fingers crossed he will drop off but he never does until he has done a poop! so then i have to disturb him to change him!...Luckily he goes off within 20mins after. But when will he poop in the day? as i would like to do his feed and put him straight down with out having to wait up for him to poop!...
Oh,should prob add...he will do a poo mid morning then wont do another til after his 'dreamfeed'...is this normal?

Dont get me wrong, after this feed he will sleep til 5am-ish now, wake up at 5 have his nappy changed then go back to sleep until 7 :happydance:
Its just the pooping!

Another Q with dreamfeeding....I did it tonight,he was asleep all the way through his bottle and when i put him down he started stiring!
Its as though he has wind but there not supposed to take in any air when dreamfeeding are they??

Now im listening to a baby who may or may not be filling his nappy and may or may not have wind!

He keeps going quiet so im leaving him for now to see if he drops off.

Sorry this is so long,i have the sleeping through almost cracked but its the last feed that i cant get quite right!I know i shouldnt be complaining but it means it takes him a while to get to sleep and also a little worried about how often he is filling his nappy

thanks x

can any1 help?

Ruby went through a phase of poo-ing at her dreamfeed...I just changed her and she settled after. She stopped doing it now though.
2 nights ago I was suspicious that Ruby has wind after her dreamfeed so I gently burped her and the burp came up easily. If you think Connah has wind I would burp him...otherwise he'll be uncomfortable. A faster flowing teat will help prevent also.

It sounds like Connah is a bit like Ruby in that he will settle ok even if woken slightly during the dreamfeed. So I would burp him or change him if you think he needs it. better that than him waking up in a couple of hours because he's uncomfortable.

About pooing, 1 poo a day is normal for a FF baby...Ruby sometimes even goes a day and half without one. I wouldn't worry :)

Thanks, hes started to get a little better at it now...think its all about perseverence really :D

would he still poop at that time of night if you didnt dream feed him ? or would he maybe save it then for an hour that is closer to day time ? maybe try nnot dream feeding and see what time he wakes for a feed naturally ?
i only tried to dream feed twice with lo , and it only brought me an hour longer he woke at 4 am instead of 3 am, so i never bothered again and he gradually lengthened the amount of time he slept after bedtime himself :)
just a thought :)

Charlie I think what you're doing currently is just fine...you know what they say, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'...
