Had my dd on the 28th July via emcs. I was driving after 4 weeks with ds as my insurance company said as long as I felt fit.
My insurance company this time said I need to be signed off by my go. Phoned up and my regular( by the books) male gp has said 6 weeks. Spoke to my health visitor and she said that this is nonsense and as long as I was feeling fine. She suggested making an appt. with the female gp in the practice which I have done and is this afternoon.
What should I say to the gp? That Im in no pain etc and can do everyday tasks?

When I spoke to my GP I also told him that I was able to lift my toddler without pain and was sleeping on my stomach with no problems.

really you should wait 6 weeks. this is the minimum healing time for a section.

i was told by my surgeon that even though i may feel fine it doesn't mean everything has healed.

with my second section i was in no pain after a week and was (naughtily) back to doing things as normal. i got a great big slap on the wrist for it because obviously things weren't healed. and thats when i got told just because i feel fien it doesn't mean that it is and that everything is healed.

you may be healed externally but it doesn't mean internally everything has knitted back together.

Gp was quite happy for me to drive.
As I pointed out it was better me to drive than push a double buggy with ds and dd in it

O_O.... I drove immediately after getting home, lol. I was not told by anyone I couldn't drive.

I drove 2-3 weeks after. Would have driven soon but m DH wouldn't let me.

I drove this last nite, its hard having to rely on people when i need to get about

I drove home from the hospital after my c-section. Everyone is different. I was determined to get back to my normal routine and I felt fine enough to drive. However, this is coming from someone who took absolutely no pain meds after my surgery not because I wanted to tough it out but because I honestly felt no pain enough to warrant meds. I know it's a no-no to say this, but your body will be your guide.

I drove 2 weeks after and didn't talk to insurance or anything. I didn't have a choice otherwise, my DH was working 50 hours a week and no one else around to help

I thought you had to wait for the full 6 weeks before driving but was told differently by my GP at my 6 week check up. This time Ill wait and see how I feel, not rush into driving but not wait any longer than I need to.
