Dry sandpaper like skin, pics attached

When I think of sandpaper skin, I think of my son's ezcema. His skin is not red, but feels like sandpaper. All his doctors specialized different fields (pediatrician, dermatologist, allergist) says it's ezcema.

So I am not surprised your LO's doctor suggest moisturizer.
 
My favorite brand is vanicream (not sure you can get it in U.K.) it is a moisturizer free of a lot of harsh chemicals that can make eczema worst.

Sometimes diet can too. My son's blood and skin test shows he is allergic to nuts, soy, and eggs. I avoided those for a while and his skin got slightly better. But he is a tween so he is eating whatever and his skin is not doing so good. But he doesn't care (it bothers me because he keep scratching). I have ezcema myself and I know scented bath oils definitely triggers it. Because thats when it gets bad.
