Ok I'm here laughing at myself for not knowing/having thought to ask this yet. But my section is booked for wednesday next week (eek) and I have no idea about it.

Can anyone tell me how/when your waters are broken in a planned section??? With my EMCS for dd1 i'd already had them broken by the midwife using the crochet hook, as i like to call it.

Do they deliver baby in the bag? Do they burst on incision and suck it all out after?

OMG...how am I allowed to be responsible for living things?!?!

The incisions are made in layers until they're just left with the amniotic sac between them and the baby, the sac is then popped/sliced and all the water is suctioned away immediately before/as the baby is delivered :)

Lots of luck for Wednesday, how exciting!!

That's an interesting question that never crossed my mind, haha

I wondered this too actually. I had emcs with DD1 but this time
round I'm trying for VBAC unless I go over then I want a ELCS, I wondered what happens with waters too :)
