C-sections increase the risk of getting a DVT, Deep Vein Thrombosis, and I can tell you... It's a real risk. 4 weeks post partum I started noticing I had some leg/hip pain and DH and I were both convinced it was my body returning to normal after pregnancy. I even asked a fellow new mom who said those types of pain are totally normal. Well, after 3 days of dealing with leg pain and trying to "walk it out" and stretch the pain all of a sudden got worse and I couldn't walk without limping. Later that night, while pumping, I noticed that one calf looked slightly swollen. My parents had flown in that morning, so now DH and my parents were googling what could cause that. The second they read that it could be a blood clot we were off to the ER. Thankfully my parents were there to watch the girls, and I had enough frozen BM.

After a 5-hour ER trip the DR said I had a DVT. She prescribed a blood thinning shot and some pain meds and sent me home with a piece of paper about DVT's.

I'm now going to be returning to the ER in a bit because one of the warning signs that it isn't getting better is a fever, and mine was 102 last time I checked.

I'm just writing this so other ladies who have a Caesarian know the warning signs... My leg hurt, it was slightly swollen from my hip to ankle and it was more pink/red than my other leg. If you have any of those symptoms, go to the ER immediately!!
