Hi Girls,

I'm new to this board, have posted a few times in TTC but wanted advice from someone who might be in the same boat as me, hope you can bear with me to the end of the story/rant!

I can see that there are lots of people who have really long cycles but i'm at the opposite end of the spectrum. I have got dysfunctional uterine bleeding (basically they know I am bleeding and not having real cycles but they don't know why). Since coming of the pill I have had a maximum of 2 weeks with no bleeding. I have tried tranexamic acid but as soon as I stopped it the bleeding started again. I have also had noreshisterone which worked whilst I was taking it but again I started bleeding when it had stopped, now into my 5th week! earlier on in the year it was 3 months before my GP did anything! I have seen the gynacologist and had lots of bloods and an ultrasound but nothing is abnormal. I am not due back there until the end of December. Has anyone else been in this position. My GP doesn't seem to know what to do and just says it may all sort itself out (which I can't see happening as it hasn't happened so far.

Hope you don't mind me asking your advice?

Thanks:flower:

I am so sorry you have to suffer through this. I also have super long periods of bleeding. I will bleed for months at a time, and although the flow will vary it is pretty much always there. It certainly makes BDing hard, as well as makes me pretty irritable all the time.

I'm afraid I don't have any advice, as I have yet to find a way to get it to stop. Although, this month is the first month in years that I haven't bled that much, and I recently started exercising 5 days a week.

Good Luck!

Thank you for your reply. It's so frustrating isn't it and it really does affect your life. I lead a very active life already and eat a healthy diet. My next gynae appointment has been moved forward so hopefully they'll have something helpful to say. Have you had any help or advice from doctors?

Thanks again x

I had constant bleeding/spotting for weeks a couple of months after I stopped the pill. Mine turned out to be a symptom of PCOS.

You need to have your hormones checked out at different cycle days. Also a scan rarely reveals anything - you could have endometriosis but a regular internal scan is unlikely to show. So I'd ask for a laparoscopy. But start with hormones first.
Evening primrose oil, Starflower oil and Angus Cactus are all very good at regulating cycles and sporadic bleeding. So whilst you may be waiting for an op I'd give them a try for a few months

I can't say I have any answers for you but just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. From my very first period at 14 yrs old, I've had long bleeding episodes. I got put on birth control because of it at 14 and stayed on til about 19... got back on it a month or so before my wedding at 19 1/2 yrs old til 21. It took 2 yrs of NTNP to get pregnant and I have a healthy happy boy who turned 4 on Saturday. Since having him my bleeding has only gotten worse. I've been to the doctors off an on many times for it and all my scans and bloodwork are fine- no cysts, fibroids, polyps, endometriosis... nothing. I've been trying to use progesterone cream but since I have no real cycle it doesn't do much other than stop the bleeding after 2-3 weeks (though I'm thankful for that). Right now I've had spotting-extremely heavy flow and in between for nearly 6 weeks now. I've quite overweight but have been for a long time. I lost 40 lbs this year but have gotten lax about it this fall. I'm going to get back to it. I'm thinking the other poster who mentioned exercise may have some puzzle piece though. I haven't done the frequent exercise the past couple months and the bleeding has been worse. I don't know if it's related for sure but it seems very possible. Anyway, sorry to be so long-winded. I just wanted to share my story. Hopefully you won't have to go through years and years of it like I have. If you or anyone else finds something that works, please let me know!!
