Hi

Its looking likely that I am or have miscarried but am only in the very very early stages of pregnancy {anything between 4 & 6 weeks}

Im not sure whether i'll require any treatment yet but am currenly being seen by my local EPAU.

Im finding it hard to get my head around and i know its probably a really daft question but when you have miscarried is there any way of knowing or finding out what the babies sex actually was??

Also are you given anything official {ish}that even acknowledges there was a pregnancy at all? I know its early days for me but I would like to have / do something to try and remember this pregnancy/baby, as its highly likely that I will have probs concieving again in future {if at all} due to some health probs.

as far as i know there is no way for them to tell what the sex might have been.
there are a couple of links on this main page for remembering your lo.

so sorry for your loss, take care.

pm me if you need to talk.

I'm not sure about them being able to give you something to remember your LO by but they won't be able to tell you the sex. I don't think this becomes obvious until further down the line. I miscarried at 7 weeks 2 days and they wouldn't have been able to tell then. I always went to a website called www.askbaby.com and it gives you week by week development of your pregnancy. I think in there, somewhere, it tells you that the sex of your baby will become visible at a certain point.

So sorry for what you are going through. I didn't find out until my 12 week scan that I had miscarried. It's such an awful thing to go through but as you are quite early on, they may just recommend you stay at home and let it happen naturally.

Good luck to you and I hope you go on to have a successful pregnancy, if not this time, then next time xxx

So sorry you are going through this sweety. Unfortunately, I dont think you will ever know the sex of your little one as it is too early to tell.

I have m/c twice and with the 2nd (I had a d&C), they said that the 'remains' would be buried in the Crematorium and that I could put the details of my loss in the Book of Rememberance. I thought this was a nice touch.

With regards to problems conceiving again, I am sure everything will be okay xxxx

All i have left is my pregnancy notes, i couldnt bear to throw them away!!! You wont get anything from the hospital and as someone has said you will more than likely be sent home if the m/c has already started (they did with me) maybe you could do something for yourself that is a reminder of the baby you have lost?? Xxx

Thanks everyone , just thought id ask as you never know.

At the moment they aren't sure if I ve already miscarried or am miscarryin so are monitoring my beta levels etc until they reduce and I get BFN x

Hey sorry for your loss.

Like the other girls have said, the hospital wont give you any official documents. With my first pregnancy i kept my maternity book, the clothes that i had being buying and a little cuddly cow that i wanted as my babys first toy. With my other mc's that happened really early, because i didnt have anything to remember my baby by i added a flower and angel in the rememberace thread. The sex organs dont grow till about 12 weeks, so you wouldnt know what the sex was.

only thing i had from my pregnancy was my scans and my notes... i gave all mine back. i didnt want them.
they can only tell the sex from eitherbaby being 16+ weeks or if they did testing on baby *which they wont enless your part of the testing program for reacurrant m/cs*
it doesnt matter if they dont give you anything because in your heart you no you was pregnant and in your heart the love for you LO will stay for an eternity. it mnever leaves u

Thanks again all, some ideas there for me

Thanks for all your kind words, they help x
