Hi Ladies, I just got a positive preggo test yesterday. I called my Ob explained to them that I had a mmc and d&c done Dec 9th and I ovulated late last week. I havent even offically missed my period but they wanted me to come in this tuesday for an early ultrasound. I would barley be 4 wks. With my mmc I had a ultrasound around the same time and you couldnt see anything the dr said My linning was thickened but looked like uterus that could be starting my period. Have anyone of you had to go for an early ultrasound this early? I wanted to be seen early because of the miscarriage but was thinking more like 6wks not 4... Anyone else? I figured I would have labs done also to just confirm the pregnancy but just thought it was a little weird they wanted to do a ultrasound so early... Any thoughts?

If it were up to me I would want to wait until 7-8 weeks since there should be both a fetus and a visible heartbeat by that point, but then again I'm not your obstetrician. I'm guessing they just want to make sure there's a gestational sac and it's in your uterus, but really you might not even see that at 4 weeks.

Yeah 4 is pretty early, I guess they'd see a thickened lining and maybe a sac? Hopefully they will scan a couple of weeks later too to check for a heartbeat.

Hope it goes well and remember don't panic if they can't see much yet as it's really early. Good luck xx

I'm in the same boat, I have a very early utrasound scheduled for tmr and I'm just shy of 4 weeks, I have a little bit of bleed on friday and that's's why their doing the scan but so early what will this really tell them? Just make me even more nervous!! The bleed freaked me out well enough! I'm terrified I lost her already </3

It's way too early, perhaps they dont realise how far along you are? I would ring back and rebook for 6-7 weeks x x

i had a scan at 4wks 5days but that was only because my corpus luteum cyst ruptured and I was having a decent amount of pain in my right side and they wanted to be sure I wasn't having an ectopic pregnancy. My SIL is my tech and she kept telling me we may not even be able to see a gestational sac by then (we did - a tiny one!). So, maybe they're just looking to see the status of your uterine lining?? They must have a reason but if you're unsure about it just call back and ask why. I had another scan at 6wks 4days and this was when we could really see everything - baby, yolk sac, heartbeat, etc.

I hope you get the answers you're looking for! I would also ask about monitoring your blood hcg levels, this is what they did for me and once the levels got to a point they thought they could see something on the U/S they booked me for that. Good luck and so sorry for your loss!!

I have my first appointment on Monday, which will put me at only 5w4d. I'm hoping that they see something to ease my mind (MC on 12/11/11), but who knows. We both must have gotten prego right away! Its so crazy!

Hi there I have my 1st scan THIS monday too - but I will be 7 weeks, they said that really would be the earliest they would see a heartbeat & so give me some reassurance that it is a viable pregnancy, following JUST having my daughter delivered on 24th November 2011 @ 20 week gestation with a catalogue of problems.

I'd say go for it though, have this scan although granted its early @ least it will give you some peace of mind & then maybe also try and push for another around 7-8 weeks.

GOOD LUCK with whatever it is you decide xxx
