That is just wrong we are made to feel like that innit......people should feel ashamed!

Not in the religious capacity obviously, but I totally agree with you Dionne, to me it is about eggs for KIDS and nothing more (unless too young or they don't have chocolate) and for them to get mucky and enjoy it......where do these other people find the cheek to ask or make it clear they want more from us (than the cost of an egg), surely it is up to us whether we buy other things for people but no way should it be expected of us, that is just wrong!

Before the egg became closely entwined with the Christian Easter, it was honored during many rite-of-Spring festivals. The Romans, Gauls, Chinese, Egyptians and Persians all cherished the egg as a symbol of the universe. From ancient times eggs were dyed, exchanged and shown reverence.

With the advent of Chrisianity the symbolism of the egg changed to represent, not nature's rebirth, but the rebirth of man. Christians embraced the egg symbol and likened it to the tomb from which Christ rose.

A bit of info for ya ;) I did have to google it

See I dont celebrate Easter in the christian sense, it was originally as Tam was saying a pagan celebration celebrating the start of spring (hence why its celebrated on a different day each year depending on the moons position - not very christian) Hence eggs and bunnys etc which are symbols of fertility. I like it cause it gets you in the mood for the summer months, and new birth and new life in nature etc.

Christmas is a bit more pointless really if your not christian, although this is also taken from pagan and other ancient tradtions that got converted to christianity.

So we have fun without stuffing our faces with cocolate, we do egg painting and egg hunts, and have it all family time, visiting parents etc, we had OHs mum and partner round today and tomorrow we are at my mums for dinner with my brother and his family, my gran and aunt.

I had to phone my mum up and have words yesterday. Ididnt want to sound ungratefull but she got him a tube of jelly eggs things, which not only were they full of E numbers being jelly sweets, but it had wirtten all over the tube 'not suitable for children under 3 due to risk of choking' The egss were a bit smaller than mini eggs and rock hard!!!! he could never eat them.
