Eating too much?

Hi all,

My daughter is 2 weeks and 2 days old, she was eating 4floz bottles every 4 hours up until a couple of days ago. She is now starting to look for food after 2 hours but is still eating 4floz?! I know we are meant to let them eat on demand this early, but she gained a pound in a week at her last weigh in last Wednesday, which is a lot - the midwife didn't hesitate in telling me that too. Has anybody experienced this?! I'm worried for the next time she's weighed as she's almost doubling what she eats??

I've tried giving her a dummy inbetween feeds as I thought maybe she liked sucking for comfort, but it's making no difference. She keeps down everything she eats too..so no idea?!

Any advice ladies?

Try increasing the bottles and see how your dd copes. Some babies have a lot of appetite. Others don't. And trust me unless baby sticks precisely to a line, midwives and health visitors all seem to comment, either way.

i think your right to feed your baby on demand. if she hungry shes hungry! and its better shes gaining weight rather than the opposite.
my lo was very hungry and feeding so often at about a month old so we put him on stage 2 hungry milk. it satisfied him and he was able to go 3.5 to 4 hours in the day between feeds.

My little boy was a very hungry boy. He was on expressed breast milk till 4 weeks but from 3 weeks he put on a pound a week for 3 weeks! He's 91st centile for height and weight tho so has a big appetite. He's now on 5 x 7oz bottles and goes 4hrs between feeds and sleeps well at night. If you think your lo is hungry, feed them. I had all family questioning if I was overfeeding lo but I just ignored them - you know lo best x

If bubs is hungry bubs is hungry, I do hate health visitors sometimes, if you have tried dummy and that's no good it is obvious baby is hungry and needs more milk. It might just be a growth spurt and LO will not need feeding so much in a week or so so just follow babies lead. Your doing great, ignore the HV
