Ok so things haven't gone the way I planned, I had this whole idea of waiting until my little princess was 6 months old and then blw, but the past 3 weeks my little Angel has been making us both miserable as sin, demanding feeds every 1.5-2 hours then feeding for anything up to an hour (night included), as she is ebf you can imagine how hard this has been both mentally and physically. As I said this was going on for 3 weeks until last Thursday my mum decided enough was enough and went and bought her a jar of banana custard, she ate the whole lot then was the most content she's been in a long time and played happily for 3-4 hours before having Her last milk feed and then sttn!!! So I carried on with the jars giving her a milk feeds in the morning 1 jar for lunch at 1ish another milk feed at 4/5ish and 1 jar for t at 7 then a milk feed before bed at 10 and she continued stern, bliss!! So Friday Saturday and Sunday was great, then yesterday she went back to screaming blue murder every 1-1.5 hours for a feed, she was on the boob for 50 mins at a time and would have quiet happily have eaten more than 1 jar at lunch and dinner if I had let her. Is this normal, am I feeding her enough Or should I Start giving her 2 jars at meal times? I don't want to over feed her but I can't deal with her tantrums (they are tantrums there is very rarely tears) because she wants feeding. I don't feel like I can talk to my hv because she is so pushy about blw being the only way. Sorry for such a long post but I really need some advice I'm a ftm and I just want to do the best by my baby

Sounds to me like you lo is clearly telling you what she wants!!

If thats what makes her happy then i dont see a problem, try giving her homemade purees with veg and fruit if you can as this will make life more versatile later on as she will know the flavours.

You can always try the blw anyway, anything can be eaten by hand although some of it can be messy!!

We had to spoon feed as early weaning for reflux was needed which meant blw didnt quite work for us, lo likes to be fed!!
But now its a combination of spoon and blw so she can get messy with her food!

I think if your instinct is saying do it then carry on, dont worry what hv says, yes they are there for advice but its your baby so your choice! You wont be doing anything 'wrong'!!
Happy Eating!

Thank you, all I really need is reasurance, as this is my 1st child Im still struggling with listening to what we need over what everyone else thinks!! I have been giving her food to "play" with whist Im feeding her, she had banana with her lunch and pasta with her tea last night, but she hasn't quite worked out how to get it to her mouth yet so it is just to get used to different feelings! Ill try feeding her until she tells me to stop today and see what happens!!

I would introduce a 'pudding' my little boy has homemade veg/meat puree then either a fruit puree or yoghurt for pudding after each meal.
