Its now 3am and my daughter has been awake for the past 2 hours screaming, itching and awake! Its the four night in a row and imW at my wits end.We have tried all sorts of cream from the doctor but nothing is working. Ive resorted to using piriton but tonight.not even that is helping. Shes in a loose cotton top with a liht cotton sheet, ive used calamine lotion to soothe and given her some paracetamol as shes bound to be in pain as shes bleeding from the scratching. At 23 weeks pregnant I need some sleep too!!! Please help

Poor little thing :( every baby is different but I have found aveeno cream and bath oil the best. I also use the bria organics balm and bath oil alongside and they too have been excellent. His back was 50% covered and soooo red and inflamed before this and he had other patches all over his body.

At night we use a bamboo bubby sleeping bag specifically for babies with eczema. It's a bamboo and cotton blend with anti scratch sleeves. They're expensive but last from 6 months until 2 years so you do get plenty of use out of them. If you don't want a sleeping bag you could get scratch me not sleeves? Ds also rubs his face on the sheet which makes his skin inflamed so we have bamboo cotbed sheets that I got off Amazon.

Have you tried Diprobase ointment? We use it for DD at night. It's a lot thicker than the cream emollients (think Vaseline like consistency) and it stays on so much better - the cream just seemed to rub off on sheets/Pyjammas. Worked a lot better for DD. :flower:

You have my sympathy, I know what you are going through! For us, Aveeno bath oil followed by Aveeno cream worked. We also used Fucidin H steroid cream when needed. We've been able to stop that entirely now.
Someone mentioned Diprobase. I used this on my eczema when I was younger. It's not very pleasant, but it does work well!
You have to persevere with eczema. You'll probably have to try several different treatments before you find the routine that works. Good luck.

Thanks ladies. Where can I buy aveeno? Is it in the uk? How often do you use it? Ive cut down her baths to two a week as found every second day was making it worse. Im willing to try anything before you ends up with terrible scarred skin like mine from all the scratching xxx

You can get the cream and bath oil on prescription from the gp. I use the cream twice a day with the bria organics balm on top as a spot treatment. When his eczema was worse though I did the cream every nappy change until it got more under control. With also had 1% hydrocortisone prescribed which which really helped get it under control. We dont have to use that now. A lot of dermatologists recommend baths every night now so as to hydrate the skin. The water cant be too hot though or the skin will inflame. I bath every other day, but you know your lo best if it does make her worse.

Oh and you can just buy the cream and oil in places like boots, but make sure you get the cream and not the daily lotion.

been struggling to get a gp Appointment so going to just buy it if I can find it. Maybe using this oil and creM will work better with daily baths. Maybe be ablr to get it on minor aliments as we receive tax credits just now xxx

Moogoo is fantastic (they do a range of natural creams). My lg also has eczema but not as bad as yours, it doesn't keep her awake just makes her grumpy and hers is on the face, we've sorted out the eczema on her body through diet. Have you noticed any link between the eczema and an irritant?

We did look at getting her a silk mask and they also do body suits although they're expensive https://www.healthy-house.co.uk/product/dermasilk-infant-body-suit-with-folding-gloves-for-eczema. We may still do this if we get another bad flare up.

Unfortunately hydrocortisone is the only thing that controls the eczema on her face properly, plus zerobase emollient. Has the dr prescribed that for you?

Epaderm, Cocoa Butter and Scratch Sleeves are the lifesavers for us. DS is sensitive to parafin in the emolients so they make his flare up more. Also fairy and Surcare we all became itchy so now use Persil Non Bio washing powder and Tesco's own sensitive fabric conditioner. Also no longer than 5 mins in the bath (water can be drying if in a hard water area) and only use Sanex 0% on DS's hair. Good luck, it's utterly miserable! xxx

Have you had any prescriptions or appointments for eczema before? I just rang the doc and said I wanted to try something else because xyz wasn't helping and could I try aveeno. They did a prescription for me to collect.

Well I managed to get an appointment. Shes been given wash, epaderm for epadermfter the bath which she is to have only a few times a week for now. Also got eumovate to be used twice daily til its cleared up but betnovate to be put on at night for a week. In process of making a chart to make sure we dont miss an application of any of it since I work different shifts each week xxx

I'd highly recommend Scratch Sleeves too to break the itch/scratch cycle. Eumovate is great stuff, DH has it on script.

Well night one of routine and its hell. had a lukewarm bath, double base applied, betnovate applied ten minutes later and gone to bed in just a nappy as instructed by the doctor. She managed two hours sleep from 8:30, tossed and whined til one and has been squealing on and off since. Now at 2:50 I am ready to scream. I wasnt expecting miracles but didntS expect it to be worse! Imy struggling as since I ended my 9 year relationship with my cheating husband (but meantime still living in same house) he doesnt help. He is currently playing the xbox not caring. Sorry for the pity party!

Aw hun, serious question, do you have cocoa butter? If you do, try that, it literally was a miracle saver for us. May not work but it's worth a shot. Good luck! xxx

I'm so sorry hun. It's such a minefield trying to find what works. For instance olive oil, coconut oil, oilatum and diprobase all made ds worse. Def get some scratch sleeves to at least minimise the damage she's doing scratching and if she keeps getting worse don't be afraid to ask for something else to try.

Woohoo- she slept til 1, had epaderm applied then slept til 8. No scratching, crying, or anything. Long may it continue!! My poor bubs xxx
