I'm sure this has been asked hundreds of times but I'm hoping if I'm specific with describing my son's issue ill get some help!

So almost from 2 weeks post birth he had red sore cheeks and dry flaky torso with weepy patches around neck and behind knees. Fast forward to now - 7 months old - and his body is absolutely fine now. I used sudocreme to dry out weepy areas and ultrabase on his body - brilliant. His face however is not improving?

He has had a few days where it's better and I've thought 'oh that's sorted now' but it's now bad and so want to know if others have had a similar experience. I use aveeno oatmeal creme on his face and after 30 minutes his face is dry again! I use it about 6-8 times a day and wash just with aveeno bath oiled water twice a day so not to get a build up of creme which also makes it bad. He definitely looks worse after being outside and definitely when sun is involved - is this usual for eczema?

Can you take a picture of the areas? Just helps to give advice from seeing it. For both my children washing/bathing makes their skin worse. My dd only has a shower once a week otherwise she scratches til she bleeds. Behind her knees becomes weepy and sore after a shower even with dermol wash and double base applied afterward. My son had patches on his face which come and go but it isn't eczema, he has baby acne. Could I be something different on his face? Nothing clears it but a smear of Vaseline stops his dribbles and food irritating it xxx

My LO didn't have eczema but she did have really bad rashy dry skin on her face, round her mouth and cheek area and sometimes around her eyebrows. Our health visitor prescribed us an emollient that could be used direct onto the skin or in the bath and we used it frequently and since the emollient cleared the problem it hasn't been back! I hope you find something that works for your LO

I'll try and get a still picture today!

Weleda weather protection cream is great. It has always sorted out my daughter's dry and irritated skin. I don't know if she has eczema, but she's periodically had dry, irritated, sometimes rashy skin on her face and that has always helped. Also, I wouldn't wash it. We don't use really any soap on her face. Just a flannel and warm water from the bath to wipe off anything that's dried on or crusty.

Oh I have some of that - thank you, but it was in the sun that it got worse? Not sunscreen weather but warm and sunny? Anyway I can't upload the picture BUT it does seem better today since I've been putting epaderm ointment on the dry patches - basically like vaseline

Ps the main problem is its so dry it flakes

Aveeno is crap in my opinion. I'd see a GP and get something on prescription.

My little girl has a patch of exczema on her face. We were given antibiotic cream and double base and it's almost completely gone in a week xx

This is the only thing that's worked for my little boy:

It's not steroid cream either so you can use it daily. I'd cut down on the baths as water can dry the skin out and just try and reduce contact with direct sunlight if that flares it up

Yep, would stop washing it several times a day. Wipe down any food with a warm flannel and pat dry. Try an emollient like dermol or double base to help the dry skin. Once the dry skin has gone try to keep the area as dry as possible. Using epaderm/vasaline will stop the area getting dry and sore again. Keep your lo out the sun too where possible xxx

Bria organics balm- amazing! We used Ave enough and that on my ds skin when he had terrible eczema. It was the balm that was the running point and it's very gentle and natural.
