eczema HELP!!

im really at my wits end, i cant cope, i think im going to end up ripping my skin off and causing serious pain!
i cant really explain what my eczema is like, or what other peoples eczema looks like, its not the worst case of eczema, in all honesty its probably not that bad and i probably shouldn't complain, but why not? why should i just have to put up with it.
I changed my Drs about 3 year ago from the Drs i had been with most of my life, when i once went to see the GP and mentioned my eczema the first thing she said was 'are you sure its eczema, erm yes im sure.. and she wouldnt give me nothing, i saw another one who gave me some hydrocortisone and some other stuff including oilatum bath liquid stuff. then i saw another Dr the other day, told her the hydrocortisone is just making my skin really thin causing it to hurt more when it returns, because it always returns. she said it looks like shaving rash and it will go away, i asked for some more bath stuff and hse was going to say no until she saw it was on my repeat..

anyway is there anything you could suggest trying? like i say the hydrocortisone although it is good and at first it did clear it up after just one use, now its not working, as its a steroid ointment its just thinning my skin meaning when it returns and i itch it, it hurts 10x more and comes back 10x worse. you could say 'dont itch' but its not that easy, i put moisturiser on when it itches but sometimes its that bad i just cant stop myself itching then it bleeds or weeps then im in pain and left with scabs!! ugh ive just had enough wish a Dr would listen to me and give me something that will work not just make it worse

I posted an eczema question in the Natural Parenting section because my son has it, too, and I don't know what's causing it and the moisturizers aren't helping. Someone suggested coconut oil and probiotics. Have you tried that combination before?

I get eczema flare ups when I get stressed and it drives me insane, even though I know it's not particularly bad compared to others (Lucas gets it terrible).
Things that work for me are letting air get to it as much as possible - mine is on my neck so keeping my hair up all the time. And raw coconut oil. I swear I have tried every single product, especially with Lucas, and that's the only one that doesn't eventually cause a reaction. I buy it by the bucket load now!
To stop itching our usual trick is to slather a ton of coconut oil over it and lightly stroke your fingernails back and forth across the skin. I've sat up for hours many a night doing this to Lucas (it feels soooo good, really relieves the itch).

i had a feeling it was going to be coconut oil, it would be wouldn't it when i hate the smell haha!!
when i put moisturiser on i do what your saying Kate, i gently rub it with my nails but sometimes its like i actually cant stop myself.

ill try name all creams ive used;
fucibet - was told i cant have that no more bcos its a steroid cream and i used it alot when i was little
doublebase
e45
oilatum - cream, parafin gel, parafin liquid..
elecon- used to sting like a b**ch
some sort of ointment in a tub
diprobase
another one like doublebase, forgot the name, currently the best but still dosnt clear it.
hydrocortisone
sudocrem
and i was also once on antibiotics, they cleared it straight away but i didnt have the right cream to keep it away

How often are you putting it on? Lots of people with eczema don't put enough on

Yeah the smell gets a bit sickly after a while, and it's seriously messy (Lucas really slaps it on and has ruined just about every bedsheet in the house). I've heard extra virgin olive oil works well too so that might be worth a try?

I went into Lush with Lucas once when he had a bad flare up and a lass working there stopped us to offer us a sample of Dream Cream. She said it's been known to work so well that they're trying to make it available on NHS prescription. It didn't work for us but you could always give it a go, they're good for handing out samples so it shouldn't cost you to try just a thought.

i use the oilatum stuff every bath and use more than i should, i then moisturise, and i use a cream whenever it itches but atm im just putting moisturiser on the spots where it flares, i dont use soap either, havent changed soap powder, but i have been stressed and i realised recently i do it as a stress relief, it hurts when i itch my scabs but it feels relieving at the same time, maybe i need to get a new habit

I was on steroid tablets for my eczema and referred to a Dermatologist, I used lots of very high strength steroid creams. It was mainly on my hands.

I've tried Covonut oil but it didn't work for us as my son has it as well. We found on prescription Aveeno cream worked well. But I went into lush and I use this hand cream and it's amazing. I put it on very regularly around 4-6 times a day sometimes more.

For my son we use dream cream - we put it on every night and always after a bath. His skin has cleared up completely.

i went to the GP yesterday asked to be referred her reply was 'well its not really that bad is it? some people have it worse so i dont think its worth referring you' i was fuming, she sent me away with sudocrem.. yeah bcos i havent ever tried that in my life. i did use to use aveeno but again stopped working, ill look up dream cream thanks

Hi, my partner suffers psoriasis. I found a cream that actually works! The doctor usually prescribe him steroid creams that don't really do alot, but after using tge cream for 2 weeks there was a massive improvement x

I'd tried prescribed steroids, bath oils, ointments and they worked for a short time then the flare up came back worse everytime.
I read a post on Facebook about a cream called Propolis, and OMG its amazing! His eczema cleared up rapidly and he hasnt had a flare up since!
I wouldnt use anything else now, its a life saver

Breathable clothing, wet wraps at night, bleach baths(which sound worse than they are. Lol. It's like a full tub of water and 1/4c. of bleach. Dermatologist prescribed), and he also does UV treatments with the dermatologist. For a mild case like yours I would suggest an ointment like Aquaphor. It's thick but not overly oily. And make sure to apply often! The biggest thing with eczema is to keep your skin hydrated. Lots of water and unscented, dye free lotions or ointments. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! He has been progressing well. His eczema is steroid induced too so it just gets worse when we try those... We have used a topical steroid on it twice and it'll clear up but then come back with a flaming vengeance.

We keep up on it and so does his school and dermatologist but it's definitely a battle. Very tough. He is 6 years old now and has to go to counseling already(started at the age of 4) for what the eczema is doing to his body image already. He can't go swimming with his friends or play at the park in shorts. The younger kids normally just ask, "What's all over your body?" and when he tells them, "It's just eczema.." they usually just drop it. It's the older kids and parents that are nasty about it. He was trying to give a little boy at the park a push in the swings the other day(fully supervised by me, I might add) and his dad literally ran up to push my son out of the way so he wouldn't touch his kid. When he was 4 his preschool told us he couldn't wear shorts in class anymore because "the other parents have seen it and are afraid it's contagious." Needless to say, we pulled him out of that school immediately after that! It's terrible and people are cruel. Eczema can be a terrible condition.
