Tristan has extremely dry skin on his chest and stomach. It comes and goes and is really red after a bath or baby massage. It is like really small red dots, a rash almost. Sometimes it gets a bit better and the red dots go but then it comes back. Does this sound like eczema? Tristan keeps trying to scratch it.

We have been using Aveeno and Oilatum and it doesn't seem to have improved it that much.

Any advice? Have any of your babies had skin complaints like this and how has it improved? What did you use?

Sounds like it to me !!

Logan has it and we are using oilatum bath everyday and oilatum cream 4 times a day and its clearing up really well.

Sorry i dont know of anything else you could use i know the last resort is steroid cream if it gets to bad !

Char has eczema, but it's dry round patches on her arm/back/leg, no red spots. Our doc has us putting cortizone 10 with aloe on them and using aveeno baby wash for her.

Yeah my Lo has it too , I keep putting aveeno baby on it and it seems to help a bit

I feel so sorry for my little man.

No-one in my family or OHs family suffers from eczema (although hubbie does have dry patches on his knees and elbows) and I ate well during pregnancy and avoided all the 'forbidden foods.' I also have breast fed exclusively and only started weaning two weeks away from the 6 month mark... and Tristan still is suffering from this dry skin. I don't know what I have done wrong!

Maybe it is just one of those things. I just hope it is just a baby thing and he grows out of it.

I once taught this boy who had really bad eczema and he had red raw bleeding skin that would flake everywhere and he was always crying and asking to go to the nurse for cream. I just hope Tristan doesn't get this.

xxx

aww he may grow out of it , I know I did ..I only get it again when im totally stressed out

Harry has had a dry red rash all over his face for almost 3 weeks now. He's seen 3 GPs, 3 paedeatricians and the head of the paedeatric unit, had swabs taken, and still no one seems to know what it is.

Initially he was just given some mild cream. Then the rash got worse and even more dry so he was given antibiotics. A week of trying to get antibiotic medicine down him 4 times a day the rash was still there and had spread down his chest and arms so they told us to stop using the antibiotics and just "see what happens".

He had his 6 week check on Monday and the GP asked about it so I went through the whole story again. She's now prescribed Oilatum and Dermol 500 cream and thinks it's eczema. Just started using the oil and cream so don't know if it's going to work or not yet.

maddi has patches of this from time to time, i had it as a child and have grown out of it. our gp prescribed citerban (sp) and its been excellent, all cleared up now x

I don't think the 'doing everything right' has anything to do with it. I ate what I wanted while pregnant, Char is formula fed, started solids early, etc and she has it too. I think it's just one of those things. It sucks, but hopefully it doesn't progress. The cortizone 10 works really well for the itching though.

fin has little patches of this on his tummy..... a lot of babies get it and quickly grow out of it. xx

Elinor has psroasis... she gets bathed in oilatum and then coated in diprobase lol :) seems to cool the itchiness and sooth her :) stops it lookin so angry and raw too.

Hebe has it - it comes and goes. We use 50/50 cream. I bought it but you can get it on prescription apparently :dohh:

Ollie suffers terribly with it at times. Mainly on his chest and behind his knees. I use Cetraben Cream on him and Oilatum in the bath and the doctor gave him steriod cream today as it's really bad at the moment x

Tom had a small dotty red rash on his face, we used E45 and it cleared up :)
