Hi girls

If your baby/ toddler has eczema which of the following are you currently using?

Creams
Bath additive
Laundry powder
Fabric Softener.

My DD's eczema has flared up really bad and the cream she is currently using hydrocortisone is absolutely useless.:nope: She also uses Oilatum in the bath and Aveeno after the bath.

Thanks x

My baby has had eczema since he was about five months old. We are currently using products from Lush called "dream wash" and "dream cream." They are the only products that have made a difference so far. In the past, we tried coconut oil and Vaseline and Aveeno, none of which helped. We've used dreft laundry detergent since his birth.

We've only been using the lush products for a week. I've noticed a huge difference already, although it's not completely gone. His skin is no longer red or flaky, just a bit raised. I'm hoping that will clear up the longer we use it.

We use oilatum bath oil and cream.Washing powder and fabric softener both fairy

We use dermol 500 in the bath as oilatum didn't really suit DD's skin. We use dermol cream as a soap substitute. We use hydromol for everyday use - it's like lard but after trying every cream imaginable, it's the only one that keeps DD's skins moisturised.
When her skin flares up, we use protopic. The consultant in the dermatology dept had to go off license for this because of her age but depending on how old your lo is, your doctor should be able to prescribe it.

Also.. When her skin is really bad, we use garments from derma silk underneath her night clothes - again you can get these on prescription.

I put oilatum in the bath, aveno cream and any non bio in wash. Keeps his down but if we run out of oilatum you can really notice how dry he goes :-(

Thanks girls

Her skin is just really dry and bumpy. She has red patches all over her arms and legs.. Itching all night long. We have a GP appointment on Tuesday so hopefully get some better cream for her. I will have a look into the lush products and also the creams prescribed by the GP mentioned

X

Just be warned - lush is super expensive! However, all of their products are vegetarian, and some even vegan, and I'm in love with the scent. You can actually ask for samples of the products before you commit to buying the large tubs (about $30 for each item).

Oilatum in the bath, epaderm emollient morning and night, epaderm cream during the day if his skin seems dry and a small layer of hydrocortisone on the redder parts of his skin. I use fairy detergent and comfort fabric softener as they don't effect his skin so much.

We have all of his creams and bath additives on repeat prescription.

My son is very mild but I use e45 junior in the bath and cetraben cream on his skin

Laundry I use fairy non bio and Own brand sensitive fabric softener as i found this irritated the least

Hi. My daughter has severe ezcema. We bathe her every night and always apply lotion immediately after her bath. All clothes are 100% cotton, except for socks, which are 85% cotton. We keep her nails short, and wash her sheets a couple of times a week.

We use:

Baths: Stelatopia bath oil

or

Stelatopia Cream cleanser

Laundry: All Free and Clear

For flares: Dermasmoothe FS and steroid cream (mometasone furoate) in rotation--not both at the same time

For daily control: Stelatopia Moisturizing Cream twice a day PLUS Vaseline at least once a day

We "wrap" her feet when they're bad, basically meaning we make sure we lotion her up and then put socks on.

We use Cetraben bath oil, certraben emmollient during the day and diprobase ointment (it's thick, like Vaseline, so it stays on well) at night, plus steroid creams only when absolutely necessary during flares. We also use tubular bandages around trouble spots like her ankles at night over her cream. I've tried lots of differnt creams - lush dream cream didn't work for us, and Aveeno only helps if used alongside the Diprobase at night. She also takes anti-histamines daily, otherwise she scratches herself raw. We're also trying her on goats milk rather than cow's milk at the minute too.

Washing powder we use Tesco non-bio - it's a lot cheaper than Fairy, and she doesn't seem to react to it like she did to some of the other non-bios i've tried. I never use softener.

Thanks everyone . Appreciate your responses. I will definitely mention some of the creams to our GP and see what he says. We also never get enough oilatum for her bath which is annoying!.

I think she needs a stronger steriod cream the red patches are just not clearing up. I will ask about a anti histamine might stop her itching so much. I will just show my GP this thread and ask for all the creams lol.

Thanks everyone x

I had to get Ollie's steroid cream increased from 0.5% to 1% because he latter wasn't helping him in the really inflamed parts of his skin. And I need to apply it 3x a day for it to be effective even now. It's a sin :(

My son has eczema and we use diprobase morning and night plus eumovate, a strongish steroid, if he flares.

He also has prescription silk stockings and top for under his clothes if it gets bad.

We use a laundry egg for washing and no softener ever, consultant said no as it hangs around in fabric and can irritate.

Also wash his sheets a couple of times a week and hoover his mattress and freeze his soft toys once a month. :)

DD has eczema since she was a few months old. We have tried various creams it's under control now. We use oilatum in the bath and Aveeno cream. Use fairy washing powder and comfort fabric softener. I occasionally use the asda little angels range and she hasn't had any problems with it.

My first born had it bad starting at 6mo, and it slowed down around 12mo. But it still popped up here and there until he was about 2, and then it very randomly flared up until he was 3. He's 4.5yo now and he hasn't had an issue in a long time. The hydrocortisone cream is the best, but I hate using it since its a steroid. So I used VaniCream. Its an over the counter lotion/cream and its amazing. Nothing else worked. Nothing.

So with baby number 2, he had/has a dairy and soy intolerance (its almost gone now), but he battled flare ups when he or I at something that had dairy/soy. We never got hydrocortisone cream...just used the VaniCream.

If you're in the USA, I ordered it from Amazon. But I also recently saw it at Walmart. White tub with a blue pump. :) Good luck!!

Was surprised to see this thread pop up .

I agree with the hydrocortisone cream now it was useless at first but that together with dermol 500 as a shower wash and cream after the bath seems to have really got hers under control .

She still has flare ups but they don’t seem as bad and her skin is manageable

Each person reacts differently to different creams. My LO was dry and flaky after Oilatum in the bath. Aveeno was better but I hated the smell so Oat baths were a much nicer (and cheaper) option - but a little bit more messy (put oats in a muslin cloth, tie it at the top and pop it under the running water of the bath - it produces oat milk which mixes with the water and is silky soft). The cream we used was Dermol, but although it worked great on her body it irritated her face and made her scream and go red, so we use epiderm but it, never worked that well. Only the steroid creams cleared her face but it never lasted all that long. When she was 2 her eczema was much better but she still had persistent patches that never went away. On recommendation I tried Aloe Propolis cream and these patched finally went away! I have no idea if it is the Aloe, the bee propolis, or the fact it is lanolin based (so not vegan and some people are sensitive to lanolin) so the oil stays put, but whatever it is it worked!

I hadn't noticed the date! Think it has come back on so products can be "recommended" i.e advertised. Not cool guys!

Yeah new members seem to be plugging this product on a few old posts! Not cool at all !
